Title and Summary Product Owner Overview Mastercard Processing is a leading global payments platform, providing scalable and secure issuing and processing solutions for financial institutions and fintech partners. The organization is undergoing a strategic transformation toward standardized, product-centric delivery models, enabling faster innovation, improved compliance, and greater operational efficiency across markets. We are looking for a Product Owner to join our Product & Engineering organization. In this role, you will act as the business-facing owner of the product backlog, translating complex business and client needs into actionable requirements and ensuring efficient execution within agile teams. You will operate in a highly dynamic, client-facing environment, balancing competing priorities and driving predictable, high-quality delivery aligned with both customer expectations and platform constraints. Role In this role, you will: Product & Backlog Ownership • Own and manage the team backlog, ensuring clear prioritization aligned with business goals, product strategy, and client expectations • Translate stakeholder and client requirements into well-defined epics, features, and user stories • Maintain high-quality backlog readiness to support continuous delivery Delivery Execution • Drive day-to-day execution, ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritized, and delivered within agreed timelines • Lead backlog refinement, sprint planning, and acceptance of completed work • Ensure alignment between roadmap, sprint objectives, and delivery outcomes Client & Stakeholder Management • Act as the customer proxy, representing client needs and ensuring value-driven delivery • Partner with internal stakeholders and external clients in a complex, multi-party environment • Manage expectations, resolve conflicts, and drive alignment across stakeholders Cross-Functional Collaboration • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure clarity of requirements and efficient delivery flow • Coordinate dependencies across teams, systems, and external partners • Support decision-making through clear prioritization and trade-offs Risk, Compliance & Governance • Identify and manage delivery risks, scope changes, and escalations • Ensure deliverables meet acceptance criteria as well as compliance and control standards • Maintain required documentation and evidence to support governance and audit requirements Operational Excellence • Ensure accuracy and transparency of backlog and product documentation • Drive execution discipline and continuous improvement within agile processes • Contribute to delivery predictability, quality, and release stability All About You Experience • Proven experience as a Product Owner or similar role with hands-on backlog ownership and delivery execution • Experience working in Agile/Scrum or SAFe environments • Experience in client-facing roles within complex delivery environments • Experience in payments, banking, or processing domain is a strong advantage Core Competencies • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and delivery focus • Ability to operate effectively under pressure and make decisions in ambiguous situations • Proven track record managing competing priorities and stakeholder expectations • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Communication & Collaboration • Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences • Ability to translate business needs into clear, implementable requirements • Experience working with distributed teams and external clients Execution & Delivery Skills • Strong backlog management, prioritization, and refinement skills • Ability to manage dependencies, risks, and delivery trade-offs • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills Corporate Security Responsibility All activities involving access to Mastercard assets, information, and networks comes with an inherent risk to the organization and, therefore, it is expected that every person working for, or on behalf of, Mastercard is responsible for information security and must: Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices; Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed; Report any suspected information security violation or breach, and Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
