We are looking for an experienced Product Owner ideally from the SaaS industry familiar with Scrum practices, and knowledge of UI principles to play a pivotal role in driving product success by translating business needs and user priorities into actionable product requirements.
Reporting to the VP of Product and Delivery, this role partners cross-functionally with stakeholders to define and refine the product backlog, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals. As a key member of the Scrum team, you will collaborate closely with developers, UX designers, and QA to organize sprints, define clear user stories, and optimize workflows that maximize product value and enhance the user experience.
This role is hybrid, based in our Toronto office 3 days a week.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

  • Four years of working experience as a Product Owner
  • Familiarity with Jira, or similar tools
  • Experience working in Agile or Scrum environments
  • Background in creating user stories/requirements gathering
  • Understanding of User Experience or UI principles
  • Strong collaborator with ability to engage all relevant stakeholders
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical/non-technical concepts to stakeholders
  • An interest in, and / or a retail background
Responsibilities
  1. Research & Planning
  • Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Services, and Support teams to gather insights on business needs, user feature requests, and strategic priorities
  • Collaborate with the Product Manager to perform product audits, identify growth opportunities, and align features with business objectives
  • Translate business requirements into well-defined product epics, user stories, diagrams, process flows, business rules, and acceptance criteria
  • Collaborate closely with the product development team to understand technical constraints and ensure user stories are technically feasible
  1. Solution Design
  • Own and maintain the product backlog for assigned components, ensuring continuous iteration and alignment with the overall product strategy
  • Partner with UX/UI designers to translate functional requirements into user-centric designs, iterating based on feedback throughout the design phase
  • Create detailed user stories with clear acceptance criteria, maintaining accountability for the product vision and user experience across development cycles
  • Lead backlog grooming sessions, driving cross-functional alignment, gathering technical estimates, and refining priorities
  • Define and validate acceptance criteria, approving or rejecting completed work to ensure deliverables meet quality and business standards
  1. Solution Delivery -
  • Support Agile development teams during sprint planning and execution, providing clarifications, refining requirements, and removing blockers
  • Develop a deep understanding of assigned product areas, championing user needs and driving continuous product improvements
  • Assess and prioritize client-reported issues and bugs, evaluating severity and business impact to determine readiness for backlog inclusion or sprint planning
  • Collaborate with QA and development teams to ensure high-quality releases and swift resolution of critical issues
  • Support the Product Manager with monitoring app store reviews and user feedback channels to identify opportunities for product enhancements and innovation
