Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Link Y Product Project Manager (PPM) will manage the entire scope of Link Y product delivery to our customer projects, effectively balancing immediate customer demands with the strategic goals of long-term product development. This PPM will deliver customer projects while adhering to stringent budget, time, and quality constraints. It is crucial to maintain alignment with the Customer Project Manager Link Y (CPM Link Y) and Deputy Product Line Manager Link Y (dPLM Link Y), negotiating time/cost/quality trade-offs to accommodate the varying requirements from Customer Bids and Projects.
The Link Y PPM will act as a single point of contact for Link Y product delivery to the Thales Naval organisation, and prepare a portfolio view of the Link Y product deliveries, including but not limited to; risks and opportunities register, master schedule, product documentation and feature model.
The Link Y PPM is responsible and accountable for finding balance between the overarching Product Roadmap and the specific needs of Customer Bids and Projects. Ensuring consistent funding of product development whilst securing revenue, cash flow, and delivering (as forecasted) net margin to the entity’s profit and loss (P&L).
The PPM will work closely with the Product Line Architect (PLA), Customer Project Manager Link Y (CPM Link Y), Product Line Manager Link Y (PLM Link Y), Project Design Authority (PDA), and Product Work Package Manager (WPM) to guarantee consistency and uniformity throughout the Projects.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Establish Product Project Baseline: Develop a clear and comprehensive Product Project baseline derived from the customer project baseline
  • Flowdown of Project Baseline Elements: Transpose relevant elements of project baselines, such as requirements baselines, management plans, engineering plans, and risk and opportunity management, into the Product level Project.
  • Categorisation and Prioritization: Classify and prioritize technical and non-technical requirements relative to the solutions offered to customers (both contractual and non-contractual).
  • Project Structure: Define and manage detailed structures, including the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS), Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), Organization Breakdown Structure (OBS), and Responsibility Allocation Matrix (RAM) for each project.
  • Portfolio Master Schedule: Establish and manage a comprehensive product portfolio master schedule, detailing milestones and interdependencies between Bids/Projects and accommodating potential changes or slippages in order intakes for each project.
  • Product Project Budget: Create and manage estimates, cost breakdown structures (CBS), allocation of contingencies, SFR&D budgets, and Product Commitment Forms for each project.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage risks and opportunities in a portfolio at product level.
  • Avoid Duplication: Ensure that there is no duplication of data between the Product Project and individual Bids/Projects baselines.
  • Supplier and Partner Management: Oversee relationships with suppliers and partners, managing RFPs, contracts, agreements, and progress meetings.
  • Baseline management: Ensure the proper establishment and approval of the product baseline by Supervisory Authorities/Senior Management and CPM. This process begins at the Development Launch Decision Review (DLDR) and culminates with sign-offs from all internal stakeholders (Business Authority, PLM Link Y, CPM, PPM, PLA) at the Launch Review.
The role is integral to ensuring that the Link Y product project is successfully delivered to time quality and cost, meeting both immediate project demands and long-term strategic product objectives
