Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

The growth in e-commerce models has brought significant challenges to the product safety legal framework, which was not designed with increasingly complex, online and globalised supply chains in mind. Government has introduced the Product Regulation and Metrology Bill, which will enable the Government to introduce clear obligations for e-commerce models, whilst promoting consumer safety and ensuring fair market competition.
This role will involve high pace work aiding the delivery of the Product Regulation and Metrology Bill through parliament, including developing briefings and Q+A packs. Alongside this, the role will include policy development of future legislative options and new requirements for online supply chain actors.
The postholder will become part of an inclusive and friendly team.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

The below criteria are essential and will be assessed at application stage.

Candidates are required to provide evidence of a proven track record of:

  • An ability to work at pace and adapt quickly to new requests, changes in policy or new deadlines
  • Policy coordination – you are able to lead the delivery of a piece of work by collaborating across teams or with multiple people to coordinate input to meet a deadline
  • Policy development – you have experience developing policy options using a range of information sources and communicating these to seniors
  • You are self-motivated and take the initiative to make progress on your work
  • You are able to anticipate upcoming challenges or opportunities, including by considering external factors that may impact the delivery and development of your or your team’s work
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working on delivering legislative or policy change

Please note that this role is open to candidates working in either our Birmingham, London or Teddington office. When you are required to give a preference, Twickenham will appear rather than Teddington, so please be aware that you should choose this option if you wish to be based in Teddington.
