Description The Product Specialist I – Smart Components is responsible for increasing sales and market share for Allen-Bradley Industrial Controls (Push-Buttons/Contactors/Relays/Signaling Devices etc.), Sensors, and Safety product lines. This hybrid role blends technical expertise, product planning, and sales support, serving as a critical link between customers, the sales team, and our strategic partner, Rockwell Automation. This is an entry-level product specialist role designed for individuals with a strong technical foundation and the ambition to advance into a senior Automation specialist position. After training, the Product Specialist will be have the following skills: Technical Skills: Identify and cross existing Industrial Components, including: Pushbuttons, Selector switches, Circuit protection (breakers, fuses, disconnects) Contactors and Starters (IEC and NEMA) Relays and Terminal Blocks Sensors and Safety products Evaluate customer requirements and recommend technically correct, application-appropriate solutions Read, interpret, and review electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, and panel layouts Sales Skills: Manage sales strategy of the Industrial Component Product lines Create sales initiatives to stimulate sales growth Provide technical support to the sales team, including: Pre-sales technical consultations Solution validation Bill of material (BOM) development Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training to customers and internal teams Assist in preparing and presenting technical proposals to customers, including solution descriptions and justifications Support customer meetings, site visits, and application reviews as needed Act as a trusted technical resource for Industrial Component-related questions and troubleshooting guidance Collaborate with Rockwell Automation and internal engineering resources when required Requirements Technical Expertise – Ability to grasp complex control and safety concepts and convey them to technical and non-technical audiences. Customer Focus – Builds trust, responds promptly to needs, and seeks feedback for continuous improvement. Communication Skills – Strong verbal, written, and presentation abilities. Collaboration & Teamwork – Works effectively with internal teams and external partners to achieve shared goals. Problem Solving – Uses creativity and data-driven thinking to develop solutions. Business Acumen – Understands market trends, competitive positioning, and profitability drivers. Required Qualifications: Education: Associate’s degree in Industrial/Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline (required). Experience: 1+ years in a technical sales support role preferred; internships or co-op experience in industrial automation encouraged. Technical Skills: Understand basic electrical principles Licenses: Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Other: Desire and ability to grow into an advanced product specialist role.
