Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

At Gradelink, we’re passionate about creating tools that make life easier for educators through our Student Information System (SIS) and related services. We’re looking for a talented UI/UX Designer to join our team full-time and help shape the future of our platform. We’ve kicked off a visual refresh of our SIS, and we need you to take it further—redesigning existing features, prototyping new ones, and making sure educators love using our tools. This is a key role where you’ll make a real impact in education.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for someone who loves design, sweats the details, and enjoys working with others. You should have:

  • At least 5 years of UI/UX design experience in a tech setting.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Media Arts, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong skills in Figma or Sketch (we use Figma), and Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator.
  • Solid understanding of HTML/CSS
  • A portfolio showing off your web and mobile UI/UX work, with creative, original designs.
  • A knack for teamwork, iterating on designs, and turning feedback into better solutions.
  • Sharp attention to detail in visuals, spelling/grammar, and usability, plus clear communication skills.
  • A drive to create great work while meeting deadlines.
  • Experience designing everything from icons to full software interfaces, including user flows and business rules.
Responsibilities

As our key UI/UX Designer, you’ll work hand-in-hand with product managers, developers, and customers to create intuitive interfaces that look amazing. You’ll take our established design style and run with it, giving our platform a fresh, cohesive feel while improving how users interact with it. Here’s what you’ll be doing:

  • Redesigning and reskinning parts of our SIS to create a consistent, modern experience.
  • Sketching ideas, wireframing, building high-fidelity prototypes, and writing clear user stories to guide developers.
  • Working with customers, product managers, and others to gather and prioritize requirements, turning them into clear product requirements and user stories.
  • Joining SCRUM teams to make sure designs and requirements come to life, taking part in sprint planning and reviews.
  • Acting as a go-to person for design-related questions, keeping stakeholders and teammates informed and managing expectations with clear communication.
  • Designing and reworking user flows to improve how features or products function, from small updates to major refactoring for better usability.
  • Helping grow, maintain and enforce our design system to keep everything consistent as we add new features.
  • Collaborating with the team to create new tools that help educators thrive in their mission.

You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in usability testing and gathering user feedback to refine our platform.
