POSITION SUMMARY

The Production Assistant will be responsible preparing extrusion lines, drying material, ensuring paperwork and tooling is prepared, breaking down extrusion lines, adding additional traying support when required, and providing basic extrusion support. Additional responsibilities outside of extrusion may include packaging and inspection assistance. This position follows standard work methods to ensure production repeatability and the highest quality standards. This job operates in a controlled manufacturing environment designed for sustained production. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Strong technical aptitude required
  • Ability to communicate technical challenges and receive and carry out improvement suggestions is necessary
  • Must be able to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Quality consciousness with an attention to detail and ability to follow through
  • Self-starter with a positive attitude a must

Preferred

  • Plastic tubing extrusion manufacturing experience is not required, but strongly preferred
  • Must be able to work from schematics, engineering drawings, and written or verbal instruction

Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate communication with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Set up and break down extrusion equipment according to documented procedures
  • Prepare material, paperwork and equipment for future planned work orders
  • Collect and package products according to approved standards as required
  • Observe machine operation to detect work-piece defects or machine malfunction when required
  • Complete applicable paperwork and enter data into computer as required
  • Perform proper line shutdown and purging as per work instructions
  • Remove the tooling and arrange equipment in preparation for the next work order to be processed
  • Confer with supervisor/manager or other applicable parties to address and resolve problems
  • Lifting materials and equipment is necessary, typically not more than 25 pounds. On Occasion you will need to lift between 50-100 pounds
  • Obey all safety rules, use caution in work activities, and continuously practice safe behaviors
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions/behaviors and work-related injuries to site supervision
