Collins Aerospace in Fairfield, CA is seeking a highly motivated and flexible individual to fill the role of Production Associate I - 1st Shift. The Propulsion Systems business of Collins Aerospace specializes in designing, manufacturing, and testing various energetic devices. Our products include system components that ensure the safe ejection of pilots from fighter jets and helicopters. Our team creates a range of cartridge-actuated devices, propellant-actuated devices, and linear devices that support military and commercial applications with pride.
At our facility, we specialize in the manufacturing and testing of explosive, propellant, and cartridge-actuated devices. From intricate components to critical systems like canopy removal mechanisms, our work directly impacts the safety and effectiveness of our products. This position works onsite in Fairfield, CA. The 1st shift hours are Monday - Friday, 5:30 am - 2:00pm (based on business needs work hours may change to 7:00am - 3:30pm). Overtime available and/or mandatory on a business need basis.

QUALIFICATIONS YOU MUST HAVE

  • Typically requires an HS Diploma (or equivalent GED in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Responsible for quality product standards with no defects.
  • Meet customer deadlines and expectations.
  • Responsible for complying with applicable elements of quality systems.
  • Participate in audits.
  • Acquire applicable skills/knowledge/certifications as required.
  • Perform inspection of parts, coating, labeling/boxing, and general preparation for shipment.
  • Check parts for cracks, loose connections, faulty bonds, and faulty assembly.
  • Record test results in the testing log. Route products for rework or salvage of usable parts.
  • Route reworked assemblies for testing. Clean completed assemblies. Assemble parts according to blueprint specifications.
  • Test parts by connecting to test equipment setting controls, observing readings and actions of instrument checking for malfunctions.
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and work area clean and orderly.
  • Check work methods and results for conformance to standards and re-instruct as required.
  • Report to lead or supervisor on work progress and updates, including conditions surrounding failures to meet quality standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
