JOB SUMMARY

We are growing and looking for a passionate person dedicated to producing excellent pastries with equally wonderful customer service and execution of baked goods for our (very) small bakery in Santa Monica. This position is responsible for making croissant doughs, preferments, lamination, some shaping and preparing of other mixes and doughs. The job will sometimes require baking product off products, scaling, working front of house and cleaning, lifting heavy items and keeping their station tidy and organized. Candidates need at least one year experience with lamination, be comfortable with working both front and back of house and be able to lift 50 lbs. This position pays a base of $23/hr plus tips.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1+ years of experience with lamination.
  • Strong customer service skills are required! Kindness and hustle are the two most important values.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Card
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. We produce about 1k pieces of pastries a day and help an average of 300 customers a day in an open kitchen, so patience, professionalism and the ability to multi-task is important.

Responsibilities
  • Make croissant doughs.
  • Laminate croissant doughs and puff pastry.
  • Shape various croissants.
  • Make fillings and garnishes.
  • Assist with bake off when needed.
  • Refill ingredient bins when needed.
  • Ring customers up using our POS system and take drink orders for the barista on duty.
  • Greet customers and box up pastries in a clean, organized and well-communicated manner.
  • Keep work and surrounding areas clean and well-maintained.
  • Keep ingredients and mixes stocked.
  • Receive inventory and put away when delivered.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the baking area in compliance with food safety standards.

May include:

  • Answer the telephone and customer queries.
  • Assist BOH with garnishing and display of products.
  • Communicate with FOH when products are low.
  • Help with scaling of ingredients, mixing, scooping, shaping and baking off when needed.
