Responsibilities

YOUR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

We are looking for a Production Development Engineer at ABB Oy, Distribution Solutions in Vaasa.
As a Production Development Engineer, you will be responsible for optimizing the production organization’s assembly methods, processes, and equipment to minimize labor hours in accordance with business strategies related to quality, efficiency, costs, and safety. Additionally, you will troubleshoot issues, maintain production records, and promote and execute continuous improvement initiatives. Also support our main Supplier sites to help and optimize process development ideas to their site physically with our internal references.
The work model for the role is #LI-onsite, some hybrid work possibility
This role is contributing to the Distribution solutions under Operations in Vaasa. Main stakeholders are Production management, Supply chain management, Global manufacturing support team, Quality, R&D and NPI-team.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Ensures appropriate production methods, cycle time, equipment performance, and materials/components in support of production targets
  • Identifies and recommends improvement opportunities and implements improvement projects, ensuring adherence to timeframe, quality, and cost requirements
  • Provides support to production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resource.
  • Evaluates new process technologies to improve productivity, quality, and cost reduction, defining and leading testing activities, approval criteria, and external provider choices
  • Main supplier co-operations for development ideas and executions

QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • B. Sc. or M.Sc. degree in industrial management, electrical and/or automation, or related field
  • A few years of working experience, especially previous development or project management role is considered an advantage
  • Self-motivated and solutions-oriented approach with good decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of mass production and logistics processes (including electronical equipment’s), with ability to optimize these.
  • Open-minded and enthusiastic about constant improvement and innovation.
  • Understanding basics of LEAN methods and multiple different manufacturing methods
  • Team player, with good communication skills and the ability to interact with stakeholders.
  • Fluency in Finnish and English, both written and spoken
  • Organizational skills: the ability to plan tasks and resources effectively to accomplish work duties
  • Good MS Office and overall IT skills. Previous experience with CAD & simulation programs
