Production Director
Job Requirements:
Formal Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
Occupational Experience:
- 5-6 years of experience in production-oriented areas (production, maintenance, logistics, or similar).
- Managerial experience.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
Additional Knowledge Requirements:
- Ability to speak and understand the English language.
- Preferred second language: German or French.
- Proficiency in SAP.
- Extensive knowledge in Lean Management, including 5S methods, value stream analysis.
- Six Sigma certified Green or Black Belt.
Major Duties:
- Production:
- Ensure timely and adequate production considering cost aspects, quality demands, and customer requests.
- Review shift reports to identify trends and deviations; decide on measures in case of major disturbances.
- Participate in international projects and foster know-how exchange with managers and colleagues at other sites for best practices.
- Ensure proper documentation of production procedures and adherence to quality attributes of the products.
- Support verification of technical feasibility studies for engineered quotations.
- Planning:
- Prepare financial budget, personnel, and investment planning based on the long-term schedule of the business unit.
- Cooperate with subordinate management to prepare long-term shift and personnel staffing plans.
- Ensure adequate supply of production consumables (batch material, polishing material, etc.).
- Implement key performance figures in accordance with prevailing Lean Operation System.
- Plan, coordinate, or lead major repairs on a project basis as required.
- Lean Manufacturing:
- Design processes according to Lean Manufacturing principles and ensure their execution and observation.
- Ensure the manufacturing environment fully understands Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts.
- Register employees for training courses and activities aimed at refreshing skills.
- Stay informed of new developments in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma by participating in advanced training courses.
- Initiate and ensure the application of Six Sigma methods in improvement projects.
- Repair and Maintenance:
- Ensure continuous maintenance of production facilities in cooperation with the Maintenance and Engineering department.
- Initiate special examinations in case of machine troubles to identify causes.
- Initiate and ensure proper execution of repairs by internal or external services.
- Development:
- Stay informed about the latest technical developments.
- Submit suggestions for the improvement of technical machinery and equipment.
- Initiate and oversee testing of new pilot machinery, equipment, and processes.
- Decide on the introduction of new processes and procurement of new production equipment.
- Obtain approval from partners for customer specifications and ensure adherence within production.
- Supervision:
- Lead, promote, and motivate employees within the area of responsibility.
- Conduct performance appraisals and goal-setting agreements.
- Plan for successors and deputies.
- Develop personnel and implement training measures.
- EHS and Integrated Management System:
- Ensure adherence to legal laws and internal regulations concerning EHS.
- Occasionally develop new concepts and directives in cooperation with the EHS site advisor.
- Implement EHS concepts and ensure corresponding instruction and training of employees.
- Ensure adherence to procedures of the integrated Management System.
- Participate in audits and maintain certifications.
