Sea-Bird Scientific is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Electrical Engineer to join our team supporting the manufacturing and ongoing improvement of world-class oceanographic instruments. Our high-accuracy sensors are used globally to measure key ocean parameters, contributing to climate research, environmental monitoring, and marine science.
In this role, you will play a critical part in sustaining and improving our existing product lines. You will apply your electrical engineering expertise to troubleshoot production issues, optimize processes, support supply chain continuity, and ensure the smooth transfer of new designs from R&D into production.
This role is located in Bellevue, Wa and reports directly to the Production Engineering Manager onsite.

THE ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB INCLUDE:

  • BA/BS Electrical Engineering degree; or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years related experience in manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
Responsibilities
  • Electronic hardware debugging and troubleshooting to the components level.
  • Create and maintain manufacturing and testing documentation.
  • Support electronics manufacturing processes such as fine pitch surface mount soldering.
  • Work closely with production to support their daily tasks and efficiently resolve any issues that arise.
  • Leads and/or participates in continuous improvement activities targeted to increase productivity and reduce machine downtime and scrap.
  • Apply problem solving principles in resolving quality and on-time delivery issues.
  • Design software applications and fixtures to improve manufacturing efficiency.
  • Work closely with the R+D team to apply design for manufacturability in the early stage of products development.
  • Test, plan, coordinate, and document the implementation of process and design changes.
  • Address internal and external customer complaints completing root cause investigation and using problem solving methodology to determine and apply countermeasures.
  • Work with outside vendors answering questions on current boards and parts, and work with new vendors for qualification.
  • Work closely with the materials and supply chain team to implement new parts and designs, as well as support supply leaders in identifying, evaluating and implementing material productivity opportunities.
