Description

PRODUCTION ENGINEER – ELECTRONICS MANUFACTURING

A leading player in the electronics manufacturing sector is seeking a highly capable and hands-on Production Engineer to join its growing team. This is a pivotal role within a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to delivering high-quality electronic products through innovative processes, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in electronics manufacturing, with a deep understanding of Surface Mount Technology (SMT), Reflow, Flow Solder, Screen Printing, AOI, Test Equipment, and Automation. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment where technical problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration are central to success.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Proven background in electronics manufacturing, ideally within a high-mix, low-to-medium volume production environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of SMT lines, AOI, ICT, and manual/automated test procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with fault-finding and rework of PCBs.
  • Familiarity with programming tools, MES systems, and ERP platforms such as SAP is a plus.
  • IPC-610 certification and Six Sigma qualifications are advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A recognised qualification in Electronics Engineering (HND or Degree level).
This opportunity offers the chance to work in a technically engaging environment with cutting-edge equipment and processes. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a passion for electronics, an eye for detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
  • Process Development & Improvement: Develop, refine, and optimise electronic assembly and testing processes, with a strong focus on efficiency, cost reduction, and quality enhancement. Key metrics include yield, productivity, right-first-time (RTY), and in-process PPM.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Rapidly identify and resolve production issues to root cause, including equipment malfunctions and component-level failures. The ability to read and interpret circuit diagrams and schematics is essential.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain precise SOPs, process control documentation (SPC), FMEAs, and technical work instructions to support consistent manufacturing outcomes.
  • Equipment & Tooling: Support the selection, commissioning, and optimisation of production equipment and tooling, with exposure to robotics and automated systems preferred.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in Lean and Six Sigma initiatives aimed at improving workflow efficiency and reducing waste across the production floor.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with manufacturing, planning, purchasing, engineering, and quality teams to support operational excellence.
  • Safety & Compliance: Maintain high standards of workplace safety and ensure compliance with relevant industry and regulatory standards.
