Job Title Production Engineer Work Schedule Equal Rotation Department Production Work Location HKN Syria Field Operation – Rmelan Field Reports to Field Production Manager Start Date To be confirmed Subordinates None Application Deadline July 14, 2026 Employment Type Fixed Term Other details Three months’ probation Position Summary: The Production Engineer is responsible for the technical performance and optimisation of HKN Syria’s producing wells and production systems, covering production surveillance, well and reservoir performance analysis, artificial lift, and production enhancement across the field. The role works closely with operations, reservoir, facilities, and maintenance teams to monitor and improve production, reduce deferment, plan and support well interventions, and provide day-to-day production engineering support to the field. The position requires strong production engineering fundamentals, sound analytical and modelling skills, and the ability to translate well and facility data into practical actions that maximise production, recovery, and uptime in a demanding, remote field environment. Main Duties & Responsibilities: Production Surveillance & Performance Analysis * Monitor and analyse well and production performance data (rates, pressures, GOR, water cut, and decline trends) to identify underperforming wells and opportunities. * Establish and maintain production surveillance, well testing, and well test validation programmes. * Track production KPIs (uptime, deferment, and production efficiency) and report performance against targets. * Maintain well models, production allocation, and well and production databases. Production Optimisation & Well Interventions * Identify and evaluate production optimisation and enhancement opportunities, including artificial lift, choke management, and gas and water handling. * Plan and support well interventions, stimulation, and workovers, including candidate selection and scope definition. * Perform nodal analysis and production modelling to evaluate well and network performance and predict production response. * Define optimum well and facility operating parameters to maximise production and recovery. Field Support & Troubleshooting * Provide day-to-day production engineering support to operations to resolve well and facility production problems. * Support well start-ups, testing, and performance acceptance of new and worked-over wells. * Investigate production losses and well underperformance, and recommend corrective actions. * Support production forecasting, planning, and reporting. Standards, HSSE & Reporting * Ensure production engineering work complies with relevant standards, recommended practices, and HKN procedures. * Comply with HKN HSSE policies and permit-to-work requirements during all field activities. * Prepare and present production engineering reports, highlighting risks, opportunities, and recommendations. Minimum Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Production Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. * Minimum 8 years of production engineering experience in the oil and gas industry, including upstream field operations. * Hands-on experience with producing wells, artificial lift, surface facilities, and production systems. * Proficiency with nodal analysis and production modelling tools (e.g. PROSPER / GAP / PIPESIM or equivalent). * Experience in production surveillance, well performance analysis, and production optimisation. * Experience planning and supporting well interventions, stimulation, and workovers. * Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. * Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, well schematics, and process flow diagrams. * Willingness to work rotational schedules in remote field locations in Syria. * Demonstrated commitment to HSSE standards and safe operating practices in field environments.
Responsibilities
The Production Engineer is responsible for optimizing the technical performance of producing wells and production systems through surveillance and analysis. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce deferment, plan well interventions, and maximize production recovery in a remote field environment.
