EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Educated to a minimum HNC/HND E
Educated to a minimum of degree level D

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of Metallic Manufacturing techniques and processes. (Turning, Milling, Gear Cutting, Heat treatment, Grinding, EDM) E
A good understanding of ERP, MRP and Manufacturing planning techniques. E
Experience of Design for Manufacturing / Assembly processes E

EXPERIENCE

Three years post qualification experience in Automotive, Aerospace, Motorsport Engineering and/or
Manufacturing. E
Previous experience in a Production Engineering environment D
3D CAD modelling, 2D drafting for manufacturing / production E
CAD CAM experience would be a benefit but is not essential D

SKILLS/ABILITIES

Responsibilities
  1. To support the Production Engineering team with associated functions to deliver multiply Production programmes
  2. Creating and updating manufacturing routing and structures
  3. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) both from a Design for Manufacture (DFM) perspective and operational performance
  4. Design and implement jigs and fixtures for manufacturing operations
  5. Create detailed 3D Models and 2D drawings. (BS8888)
  6. Lead Design for manufacture (DFM) reviews on components alongside Design and Productions teams
  7. Suggest reliable and cost-effective manufacturing methods from manufacturing drawings
  8. Support the business improvement plans with lean techniques e.g., PFMEA, DFMEA
  9. Liaise with both internal and external customers as required
  10. Evaluate drawings for manufacturability, cost, and delivery targets
  11. Deliver continuous improvement projects across the business
  12. Create and update company work instructions / standards SOP’s
  13. Lead Make vs Buy exercises, evaluating most cost-effective processes
  14. Reviewing operation set and run times, standardising, and updating where required
  15. Support the shop floor with manufacturing issues offering proactive solutions
