Description
Position Summary The Production Expediting Specialist is responsible for ensuring the timely flow of materials and jobs through the production process. This role actively monitors work orders, inventory levels, and supplier deliveries to prevent delays in CNC machining, glass/polymer molding, metrology, and assembly operations. The Specialist acts as a key liaison between production, inventory, purchasing, and vendors to maintain on-time delivery performance. Key Responsibilities •    Monitor and expedite production orders to ensure adherence to schedules and customer delivery commitments  •    Coordinate with inventory and warehouse teams to ensure materials are available for production  •    Identify shortages and proactively expedite materials from internal and external sources  •    Work closely with vendors to track and expedite incoming materials and components  •    Support safety stock monitoring and recommend adjustments based on demand and production variability  •    Communicate production risks, delays, and recovery plans to internal stakeholders  •    Track and prioritize critical jobs through CNC machining, glass/polymer molding, metrology, and assembly processes  •    Assist in maintaining accurate ERP system data related to work orders, inventory, and lead times  •    Collaborate with planning and scheduling teams to optimize workflow and reduce bottlenecks  •    Support continuous improvement efforts to streamline production flow and reduce lead times  Qualifications •    Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, or related field (or equivalent experience)  •    2–5 years of experience in production control, expediting, or manufacturing coordination  •    Experience in a manufacturing environment (optics, CNC, or precision components preferred)  •    Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and production scheduling tools  •    Strong communication and coordination skills  •    Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment  •    Strong sense of urgency and accountability  •    Problem-solving and critical thinking  •    Attention to detail  •    Cross-functional communication  •    Organizational and time management skills
