Responsibilities

ROLE: LEAD HAND – MORNING SHIFT (7:00AM TO 3:30PM)

The Production Lead Hand is a key role responsible for overseeing and coordinating the assembly process within the production department. This role involves ensuring that assembly operations are conducted efficiently, products meet quality standards, and the assembly team is motivated and productive. The Production Lead Hand will report to the Production Supervisor and collaborate closely with other departmental leads.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead and manage the assembly team’s daily activities, including assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring adherence to production schedules.
  • Ensure that assembled products meet quality standards by conducting regular inspections and implementing quality control measures.
  • Provide training to new assembly team members, ensuring they are well-versed in assembly procedures and safety protocols.
  • Identify opportunities to improve assembly processes, increase efficiency, and reduce waste. Collaborate with the production team to implement process enhancements.
  • Address assembly-related issues promptly, troubleshoot technical problems, and work with cross-functional teams to find effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including assembly data, quality checks, and inventory levels.
  • Enforce safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the assembly team. Conduct regular safety meetings and ensure that safety protocols are followed.
  • Facilitate clear communication between shifts and teams, ensuring that important information is relayed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to assembly, such as productivity, efficiency, and quality. Take necessary actions to meet or exceed targets.
  • Motivate, mentor, and guide assembly team members to achieve their best performance. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Skilled in reading and interpreting wiring schematics developed by the Electrical Engineering Department.
  • Skilled in independently assembling and wiring connections to components for all product lines as per customer specification for distribution and power transformers
  • Set up and operate test equipment such as ratio, megger, and dissipation test
  • Interpret test results taken from ratio, megger, and dissipation tests
  • Collect and compile data on wiring connections to improve efficiencies
  • Assists in setting up test and diagnostic equipment for routine testing of all production lines
  • Skilled in training new hires in the wiring, assembly, and winding department
  • Aids in technical support of root cause analysis of diagnostics for quality failures
  • Participates on the Health and Safety committee to ensure safe practices throughout production
  • Ability to troubleshoot wiring and production line issues efficiently
  • Progressing to independently supervise production team members in electrical assembly of lacing, packing, and grounding transformers
  • Progressing to become more involved in production planning within department-related tasks on a day-to-day basis Ability to take an independent role in production through; tracking production targets, meet customer deadlines and educate new employees on production efficiencies.
