We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced individual for our B8a Production Manager – Aseptic Services at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, based at Cheltenham General Hospital, providing treatments to both Cheltenham and Gloucester hospitals. We provide approx. 16000 SACT items + per year as well as dispensing outsourced items.
We are looking for a highly skilled, experienced and enthusiastic individual to join our Aseptic team as we look toward the future with the aim to develop our existing workforce as well as welcoming new members to the team.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to be involved the planning of a move into a temporary unit and with the design of a new permanent facility and assisting with helping to drive improvement forward as well as developing the strategic direction of the department.
Being a Pharmacy Professional, the post-holder will support the Accountable Pharmacist (Technical Services) in the management and leadership of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU) based at
Cheltenham General Hospital. They will be responsible for the delivery of a safe, efficient, reliable and cost effective aseptic dispensing and manufacturing service. They will deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist
within the realms of their professional remit, which may change according to amendments to legislation.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities comply with all current statutory obligations, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).
They will assist the Accountable Pharmacist with implementing service improvements and developments in the aseptic unit in line with best practice and current guidance, taking a lead on identified projects, and work in relation to internal, external audits and regulatory inspections.
They will be professionally and managerially responsible for the development, management and co-ordination of staff working in the PASU, ensuring that education, training, validation and competency assessments are all relevant, up to date and of the appropriate standard.

The pharmacy department has over 200 staff across the two sites in Cheltenham and Gloucester, both sites provide full dispensary services, medicines information, procurement services and a full clinical service to wards. There is a regular free shuttle bus allowing easy transport between hospitals both of which are located in the city/town centres with access to shops and cafes.

A. The postholder will be responsible for the delivery of a safe, efficient, reliable and cost-effective aseptic dispensing and manufacturing service, shaping strategic direction in consultation with the Accountable
Pharmacist (Technical Services).
B. Deputise for the Accountable Pharmacist (Technical Services) should professional registration allow deputising as the Accountable Pharmacist in their absence.
C. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the aseptic dispensing and manufacturing activities comply with all current statutory obligations, including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)
D. Assist the Accountable Pharmacist with implementing service improvements and developments in the aseptic unit in line with best practice and current guidance, taking a lead on identified projects.
E. They will be professionally and managerially responsible for the development, management and coordination of staff working in the PASU, ensuring that education, training, validation and competency
assessments are all relevant, up to date and of the appropriate standard.
F. Collaborate with the pharmacy systems managers and the Deputy lead pharmacist – Technical Services to manage the pharmacy aseptic preparation aspects of the electronic pharmacy system through robust quality management systems. This involves facilitating developments of the system, e.g. implementation of a separate stock holding for aseptic services, implementing new versions of software, and training PASU staff in the correct use of the system.
