Henselite is a manufacturer and distributor of lawn bowls and lawn bowls accessories. We have a 106+ year history of creating a leading lawn bowl product and are proud to be an Australian manufacturing business. We now have an opening for a driven production manager to join our factory in Kilsyth.

JOB OVERVIEW:

We are looking for someone who wants to leave their mark on the company and someone who can help manage all the changes coming to the factory in the form of new equipment, more staff and updated systems and processes.
We want someone who can make this role their own. Being a small business there is ample scope to get involved in all areas of the business however your primary goal is the production of lawn bowls at our Kilsyth Factory.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS.

  • Degree/diploma in engineering, business, logistics or manufacturing (preferred but not essential)
  • Experience supervising a manufacturing team
  • Demonstrated experience with increasing production in a manufacturing environment
  • Effective communication and experience with remote teams as our head office is not located at the factory
Responsibilities

Front Line Leading

  • Setting KPIs for each station
  • RDO/staff holiday management
  • Operator training and reviews
  • Developing standardized processes

Raw Material ordering and Production Scheduling

  • Forecasting production and raw materials required
  • Working with Moulding Compounds to fulfill order
  • Being flexible with the production schedule and being able to fill gaps as required
  • Developing detailed production plans and sharing these with sales and large customers to help them place orders
  • Developing detailed production plans and providing them to operators to make
  • Driving down the time for an order to be made in full
  • Developing systems to track orders from sale to dispatch through the factory

Process Improvements

  • Skills matrix and cross training staff
  • Applying LEAN methodology to the factory.
  • Small process improvements from the operators in each station to boost efficiency. More trollies, better organization, pre check lists etc.
  • Aiming to increase production by 50% over the next 12 months.

Maintenance

  • Manage the maintenance with help from the maintenance engineer on site
  • Develop strategies to mininise breakdowns and maintenance costs
  • Work with the maintenance engineer to replace aging equipment in the factory
  • Work with maintenance to action process improvements in the factory

Factory Upgrades

  • Work with senior members of staff, operators and engineering staff to install new machinery, test and refine the machinery, complete any R&D required, develop processes and procedures for the machinery and train the staff
  • Come up with ideas on what machinery can be purchased or altered to allow for a smoother more efficient manufacturing process.
