JOB OVERVIEW

L&L Incorporated is seeking an experienced Production Manager with a strong background in fabrication and welding to lead our production shop. This role requires a hands-on leader who can organize workflow, supervise shop employees, and enforce strict safety and quality standards while meeting tight schedules. Specializing in stairs, railings, fencing, and structural steel products, the Production Manager will translate project requirements into efficient shop output, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and on-time delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma or GED preferred; additional technical training a plus.
  • 5+ years of production management experience in fabrication, welding, or steel construction.
  • Strong knowledge of MIG, TIG, and Stick welding processes.
  • Familiarity with fabrication techniques, raw materials (steel/aluminum), and industry standards.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety standards and compliance.
  • Knowledge of process improvement techniques and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project scheduling tools (experience with Monday.com preferred).
  • Strong leadership, delegation, and conflict management skills.

Responsibilities
  • Production Planning & Scheduling
  • Develop and manage production schedules, breaking projects into sub-tasks with defined timelines.
  • Monitor progress, adjust schedules for unforeseen delays, and report updates to the team.
  • Ensure all production tasks are completed within budget and on time.
  • Material Resources
  • Source, quote, and purchase raw materials and consumables.
  • Manage inventory weekly; ensure stock is received, verified, and stored correctly.
  • Track vendor delivery dates and follow up as needed.
  • Schedule pickups and deliveries of materials from local vendors.
  • Team Leadership & Human Resources
  • Interview, hire, and manage production staff.
  • Conduct performance reviews (90-day, annual, and progressive counseling as required).
  • Train new and existing employees on health, safety, and operational procedures.
  • Enforce shop safety standards and manage accident reporting.
  • Workflow & Operations
  • Update project status daily in the project management system.
  • Implement and enforce quality control standards.
  • Detect and correct production and quality issues.
  • Revise or develop new standard operating procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Maintain shop cleanliness, organization, and proper equipment shutdown procedures.
  • Equipment Management
  • Determine equipment needs and budget for acquisitions with ownership.
  • Develop and enforce preventative maintenance schedules (weekly, monthly, annual).
  • Maintain electronic maintenance records for all equipment.
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Coordinate with project managers, sales, and logistics to align production with company goals.
  • Communicate delays or adjustments proactively to relevant departments.
