The Production Manager is responsible for ensuring the manufacturing department operates at peak efficiency. This role focuses on working directly with employees to improve output, maintain quality standards, and uphold health and safety compliance.
The Production Manager serves as the primary contact for all manufacturing partners, including overseeing the bidding process to secure new contracts. The PM coordinates with the Vocational Lead to support the delivery of services for individuals working at Sandco. Key responsibilities include monitoring staff productivity, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and working closely with the Operations Manager to ensure all requirements are met to sustain Sandco’s 14(c) certification through DOL.

• Skill

• Material Handling and Production
  · Help set up the workshop floor for daily production.
  · Work with the Assembly Lead and Direct Support Professionals to ensure consumers always have parts available during the workday.
  · Complete required paperwork for manufacturers (PPAP, CALs, etc.).
  · Coordinate daily subcontracted work to ensure quality production goals, contract goals, and objectives are met.
  · Oversee daily inventory with accurate check and balance systems.
  · Complete daily documentation for internal and external reporting.
  · Maintain facility, equipment, and safety at the highest standard.
  · Work with the Operations Manager to resolve plant issues in a timely manner.
  · Ensure materials, supplies, and equipment are available for continuous production.
  · Perform production and quality checking duties to ensure scheduled parts are complete.
  · Assist in evaluating machine resources and routine maintenance to maximize productivity and minimize downtime.
  · Strive to reduce expenses and increase productivity across product lines.
  · Maintain work areas that are clean, safe, and organized.

· Assist with shipping and receiving as needed.

• Supervise Staff

· Communicate company policies and procedures clearly while maintaining strong relationships with staff.
· Foster a positive workplace culture and provide coaching and disciplinary action when needed.
· Promote and teach best practices in service delivery.
· Conduct regular staff meetings to enhance communication and coach for performance improvement.
· Supervise staff in the production department and evaluate performance.
· Ensure all employees follow health and safety guidelines.
· Create staff schedules to maintain optimum staffing levels.
· Collaborate with other managers to set objectives and align departmental needs.

· Use staff performance reviews to drive employee development and accountability.

• Fiscal

· Assist in the budget process by estimating costs and preparing budgets.

· Organize workflow to meet production specifications and deadlines.

• Education and Experience

· High School Diploma required; post-secondary education preferred.
· Minimum of 3 years experience in manufacturing operations.
· Strong leadership and project management skills.
· Proven ability to train employees in productivity and safety.
· Experience coaching and mentoring employees individually and in groups.
· Demonstrated supervisory, scheduling, communication, and organizational skills.
· Excellent decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
· Above average math, reading, and writing skills.
· Current First Aid/CPR certification required.

· Must have valid Driver’s License & reliable transportation.

• Physical Requirements

· Ability to operate hand carts, scales, and small hand tools.
· Must be able to lift at least 35 lbs. regularly.
· May be exposed to moderate noise, vibration, dust, and fumes.
· Moderate desk work involving computers and phones.
· Must be physically able to twist, bend, and operate equipment.
· Must have valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
· Bureau of Criminal Investigation check with no felony record.

· Ohio Department of DD Abuser Registry must result in no abuse record.
