TM SCOTLAND GRANGEMOUTH ARE PROUD TO BE WORKING ON BEHALF OF ONE OF OUR CLIENTS BASED IN LARBERT, WHO HAS AN EXCITING OPPORTUNITY FOR AN EXPERIENCED PRODUCTION MANAGER.

Hours of work: Jan to April, this will be 4 days, 7 am-5 pm. May to Dec, this will be 5 days, 7-3 pm.

Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE

To effectively oversee the daily operations of the production area, ensure compliance with internal procedures, and foster coordination across departments to maintain a seamless manufacturing process. The Production Manager plays a pivotal role in driving efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement in line with company standards and business goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage and coordinate daily operations of the production area, ensuring smooth workflow and alignment with business needs.
  • Execute tasks in accordance with the direction of the Factory Manager, following standard operating procedures and work instructions.
  • Develop and communicate clear production plans, ensuring necessary resources and materials are available to meet operational targets.
  • Coordinate closely with processing, packing, logistics, and warehouse functions to optimise production flow.
  • Monitor material usage, implement appropriate controls, and ensure accurate inventory booking and stocktaking support.
  • Oversee shop floor activities, supporting line leaders in managing work-in-progress and floor stock control.
  • Monitor staffing levels, identify areas of under- or over-resourcing, and reallocate labour efficiently to meet production targets.
  • Track departmental performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), addressing any deviations with line leaders and coordinating with other departments to resolve issues proactively.
  • Uphold housekeeping and hygiene standards in line with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and company protocols.
  • Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations, contributing to audits and day-to-day compliance monitoring.
  • Support food safety, quality assurance, and technical standards through daily oversight and audit readiness.
  • Review daily production records for accuracy and completeness, taking corrective actions as needed.
  • Coordinate and support the training and development of operational staff.
  • Participate in ongoing personal development and training activities.
  • Complete routine HR-related documentation, including holiday requests, absence authorisations, and overtime records.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Factory Manager, keeping them informed of operational issues and seeking guidance where necessary.
  • Attend daily production meetings, providing updates on line and process performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as engineering, customer service, planning, technical, and sales to meet business objectives.
  • In the absence of the Factory Manager, ensure the effective operation of the factory in collaboration with the management team.
  • Promote and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Deputise for the Factory Manager as required.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Head of Operations.
