Our Barnstaple facility is located in North Devon. Founded in 1948, the site now employs approximately 160 employees and features the Aero Stanrew brand of electromagnetic components, printed-circuit board assemblies, cabinet wiring and electronic test equipment for safety critical applications in aerospace and defence, industrial and transportation industries.

DESIREABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a leadership role within a related manufacturing environment
  • Experienced in Aerospace industry or similar industry.
  • Proven track record in effective operational team management.
  • An understanding of target and budget setting and the development of plans to achieve.
  • A clear understanding of how a manufacturing process should be configured to ensure stable and effective outputs.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement lean improvements in a structured way to continually improve the manufacturing performance.
  • Ability to work effectively within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
  • Ability to identify and implement new technologies to add value to the existing processes.
  • Manage and control costs in line with budgets.
  • Degree/ HND or equivalent or Demonstratable experience in a similar role
  • IOSH managing safely trained.
  • Lean practitioner to include (VSM, 6’s, problem solving, visual management, TPM)
  • Leadership trained or training towards in people management
  • Microsoft office literate

Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead a culture of continuous improvement of health and safety performance and zero harm through identifying and managing all site and people hazards
  • Communicate the site Health, Safety & Environmental Policy (or policies).
  • Demonstrate safe working processes and behaviours. Ensure these are being followed by all employees and contractors in their place of work
  • Manage the safe and effective use of people and equipment to achieve the daily/ weekly/ monthly production plan.
  • Work in conjunction with Planning to produce capacity and labour plans.
  • Ensure that the manufacturing processes are operated by appropriately trained people in line with the manufacturing work instructions. Working in conjunction with the team leaders.
  • As part of the operational team responsible for Performance, maintenance & Display of operational KPIs working with the manufacturing teams by way of Tier 1 meetings to improve area performance with respect to Quality Cost & Delivery
  • Lead the manufacturing team in the achievement of the operational KPIs and budgeted efficiency improvements
  • Lead and champion the continuous improvement/ lean activities in line with quality clinics line or tooling improvements
  • Participate in the project management process for NPI and provide resources as required.
  • Ensure all company policies and procedures are adhered to by leading by example (role Modelling), Coaching/Mentoring and managing Informally/Formally where appropriate
  • As a PM you hold the accountability for ensuring product quality & delivery (OTTP) and shall have the authority to stop production to correct such issues e.g quality standard, efficiency or utilization drops, to protect the business and customer.
  • Interact with both internal & External customers and key stake holders at all levels as required.
  • Responsible for running effective Tier 2 meetings to maintain key deliverables for the business & Tier 3 Coverage for IOM when out of the business
