Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Production, the Production Manager - Weld is responsible for the delivery of welded items to the assembly line or directly to the customer, in line with the production schedule and to the appropriate quality standard. This role will also require collaboration with cross functional teams including engineering, quality, paint, lining and armour to ensure alignment is met and optimised workflows are complete.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INVOLVE:

  • Balance resource / labor requirements to achieve manufacturing volumes to ensure quality and on time completion;
  • Balance the production progress of weld shop to ensure the required delivery into assembly;
  • Develop, implement and monitor day-to-day operational systems and processes to provide visibility into goals, progress and obstacles of key projects;
  • Devise strategies for ensuring the growth of programs Operations wide and implement process improvements to maximize output and minimize costs;
  • Review financial information and adjust operational budgets to promote profitability; and
  • Liaise with Senior Management / Leadership Team to develop long term strategies, operational forecasting, key production activities and implement accurate reporting / feedback plans.

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Tertiary qualifications in related discipline or Armaments, Armament System Maintenance or a related technical discipline;
  • Proven experience in Production or Operations Management, within the Defence Industry;
  • Proven ability to devise and implement strategic development and resource planning, particularly within a launch phase of a project and also related to the management of change;
  • Operational knowledge and capability of the Microsoft Office Professional suite and SharePoint; and
  • Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required)
