Kepak is a global food company serving international retailers and food service household names with prime cuts of meat, on-trend food concepts and ready-for-market convenience foods. Kepak St. Merryn in Bodmin is a beef processing facility. We offer beef products ranging from retail ready cuts for butchers’ counters to branded packaged meat, all as part of our service; raised on open pastures, sourced from local farmers and hand-selected by our master butchers, we produce beef products with integrity and unmatched quality assurance. We are seeking a motivated individual to join the team as a Production Operative and Humper at our Bodmin site. This is a full time, permanent position working in our Slaughtering Department. Starting at 6.30am and working until production finishes Monday to Friday, with a salary of £12.71 per hour. Responsibilities Scribe and split beef into quarters and rehang hind quarters as directed by their supervisor, to customer specification. Be able to Lift weights and be able to move around the factory floor without assistance for the shift duration Be familiar with the daily production plan and work as part of the team to set up the line, complete checks and ensuring materials are ready to up Perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as directed Report all breakages, damages, or defaults of equipment to the Line Supervisor, ensuring all equipment/machinery is only used when it is safe to use. Record checks as and when directed Ensure that the product is of the highest standard and report any issues to the Line supervisor immediately Reporting any accidents or near misses is expected and assistance with any investigation is a prerequisite of the Company’s safety policy Always adhere to Health and Safety policies and procedures Act in a responsible manner following all safety regulations; safe work practices, SOP’s, TBRA’s and never risking one’s own safety. Ensure compliance with PPE policies and procedures Other duties will be part of the role from time to time – this will be specified by your direct line Supervisor. Report any risks or any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product, equipment, packaging or raw materials, to a designated manager to enable the resolution of issues requiring immediate action. Previous experience in a similar role within the food production industry is advantageous. Strong attention to detail and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure. Understanding of and commitment to following health and safety regulations. Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects as required.
