Description

Job Summary
The Production Operator is responsible for certain aspects of the operation of their assigned process(es) including start-up, shutdown, product change over, process problem troubleshooting, and meeting production quality requirements.
The position requires the ability to work 12 hour (Continental) rotating shifts including nightshift to support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year operation. There is a 2 weeks’ nights and 2 weeks’ days rotation. The position is a minimum three-month probationary position at a rate of $26.46/hr. Upon successful completion of probationary period, employees are eligible to participate in the benefit program that includes Health and Dental, Life Insurance, AD&D, LTD and enrollment options into RRSP/DPSP program. We offer 3 weeks’ vacation per annum.

Job Description

  • Follow established procedures and rules for facilitating production.
  • Operate plastic processing equipment including extruders, grinders, packaging lines, mixers and various auxiliary equipment as well as drive a forklift throughout the shift.
  • Perform quality testing in the laboratory of various samples from various plastics processing equipment and perform tests on raw and finished materials.
  • Report findings to their supervisor and take appropriate action to segregate production that fails to meet specification.
  • Perform other general labour and housekeeping duties.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stack 55 lb. bags on pallets.
  • Ability to work in hot and occasionally dusty environment. (Respirator required in some areas of the facility - respirator requires tight seal around the face and therefore absence of facial hair).
  • Ability to operate forklift through the 12 hour shift and operate heavy machinery.
  • Obtain a satisfactory background check.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Forklift certification or have experience in driving a forklift is desired.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a process industry.
  • Ability to take direction and process information quickly.
  • 2 positive professional references.
