JOB TITLE: PRODUCTION OPERATOR

Overview: We are seeking a skilled Production Operator to join our team and contribute to our manufacturing operations. As a production operator, you will be responsible for operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality parts and components according to specifications. This position requires expertise in CNC operation, including proficiency in tool changes and machine setup. The Production Operator will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient production of precision parts while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working with CNC machining centers, lathes, or mills.
  • Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities
  • Operate CNC machines to perform machining operations such as drilling, milling, turning, and cutting to produce parts within specified tolerances and quality standards.
  • Set up CNC machines by installing and adjusting cutting tools, fixtures, and workpieces according to job specifications.
  • Load and unload raw materials and workpieces onto CNC machines, ensuring proper alignment and secure clamping.
  • Monitor machine operations during the production process to detect any deviations from specifications or issues with tool wear, and make necessary adjustments.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on CNC machines, such as lubrication, cleaning, and minor repairs, to ensure optimal performance and prevent downtime.
  • Conduct quality inspections of machined parts using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to verify conformance to specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues as they arise, such as tool breakage, chip buildup, or programming errors, to minimize production disruptions.
  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries.
  • Document production activities, including machine settings, tool changes, and quality inspections, accurately and comprehensively.
  • Ensure compliance to all site wide and legislative EH&S processes.
  • Operation of CNC machines to manufacture product.
  • Conduct product visual & functional inspection using various measuring instruments.
  • Liase with QC ensuring first off / last off compliance on all manufactured batches.
  • Conduct equipment maintenance and calibration as required. * Perform other manufacturing operations (Quality Control, polishing, laser marking, blasting, deburring, assembly, cleaning, passivation, cleanroom and final packaging processing as required and when appropriately trained and signed off by QA department.
  • Ensure compliance to all standard operating procedures, work instructions and QF forms.
  • Maintain good housekeeping standards by completing and promoting daily, weekly and monthly cleaning and maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean work area at all times, ensuring one lot flow, and only tools and equipment essential for current tasks are at work benches.
  • Report and document any non-conformances and assist in root cause investigations as required.
  • Ensure identification and segregation of non-conforming product and materials according to established practices.
  • Maintain kanban flow and organisation.
  • Ensure routers are completed as per established standards.
  • Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a Production Operator, with a strong understanding of CNC operation principles and techniques.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, blueprints, and work instructions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform tool changes, machine setup, and programming adjustments on CNC machines.
  • Familiarity with a variety of CNC controls and programming languages (e.g., G-code, M-code).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues independently.
  • Excellent attention to detail and precision, with a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work in Evening shift Monday to Thursday from 16:00 to 00:30 and Friday from 16:00 to 23:30 hours
