REQUIREMENTS

  • Manual dexterity: Excellent motor skills and fine dexterity (example of similar motor skills: drawing, fine stitching, embroidery, calligraphy, watch & jewellery making, knot tying, playing string instruments, carving & sculpting), that would help support developing the skills for sewing fine patterns.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks reliably and efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
  • Teamwork. Good interpersonal skills for working together in a close team and support each other to achieve goals for team to deliver high quality product to patients.
  • Good communication skills. Able to read, comprehend and speak English including safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, specifications, simple instructions, short correspondence, company policies and memos
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, requirements and escalations as they occur. Willingness to be flexible, team oriented and open minded to new processes or changes in direction.
  • Proven ability to complete, retain, and incorporate training in the performance of new and advanced work procedures.
  • Flexibility to work overtime as required to ensure smooth and continuous manufacturing processes.

EXPERIENCE

  • Ideally previous relevant experience working on manual tasks that require high degree of precision and attention to detail on workmanship / craftmanship.
  • Previous experience working with medical devices in a clean room environment preferred.
  • Previous experience in sewing or as a seamstress would be an advantage.
  • Experience working in a close team supporting each other to get team goals achieved.
  • Demonstrated ability to feedback colleague to foster a culture of continual improvement.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

We are a cardiovascular medical device company looking to hire a production operator as a Valve Assembly Production Operator to work with our R&D and Operation team assembling heart valves. The operator will apply skills and dexterity for the detailed assembly in the sewing steps to make heart valves to specification. This role is based in a cleanroom environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • The Operator’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Product assembly: Following work instructions and visual aids to sew different pieces of tissue to each other and to a frame to make the heart valve.
  • Inspection of product: Following work instructions to perform inspections, measurements and, as required, assist in some testing of medical devices.
  • Quality Check Product ensuring the product meets the required visual and functional standard.
  • Packaging and labelling of products.
  • Working closely with engineers, technicians and more experienced operators to highlight any usual findings with the tissue throughout the manufacturing. This will be important for ensuring continuous improvement of the manufacturing and to “catch-and-fix” any issues as they occur in real-time.
  • Providing feedback to engineering / technicians in relation to any other improvements that can be made to the manufacturing process, including updates to patterns, tools and work instructions.
  • Completing Documentation (e.g Lot records) to carefully and precisely record the manufacturing process for each lot
  • Perform additional tasks related to building the valves, including logging process monitoring information (e.g. cleanroom pressure, etc).
  • Support receiving inspection in inspecting and cleaning components.
  • Ensure that high quality standards are maintained in regard to manufacturing and documenting manufacture, in adherence to Good Manufacturing Practice.
