We are on a journey to cement our place as the UK’s premier waste management Company, and we are now in a position to recruit additional team members to work on our waste management process, based at our Sneyd Hill facility in Stoke on Trent.

CRITICAL QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS PRIOR TO EMPLOYMENT

  • FLT counterbalance licence (preferable) – training can be provided.
  • 360 excavator licence (preferable) – training can be provided.
  • Experience of working in the Waste Sector (ideal but not compulsory)
  • Good understanding of Health and Safety, COSHH, Moving and Handling Regulations, LOLER, RIDDOR, HSE regulations.
  • Ability to work as an individual and within a team environment, Willingness and aptitude to want to learn and progress. Flexible. Solution driven attitude.
  • Warehousing experience (ideal but not compulsory)
  • Willingness to work in outdoor conditions, throughout the year on an active, busy and energetic waste management facility.
  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills
Responsibilities

OBJECTIVES OF THE ROLE:

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate. The main duties will consist of the processing of incoming waste streams, routed to our dedicated waste processing line in order to facilitate their treatment, recovery and onward disposal. The role includes the operation of the process line, along with the preparation of waste materials prior to treatment and the ancillary tasks needed to operate effectively, efficient and ultimately safely.

MAIN DUTIES:

  • Working and promoting a positive Health and Safety environment, participating within the overall company management system to ensure Safe Systems of work are followed and variations, such as Near Misses are reported effectively.
  • Receipt of incoming waste, including the loading and unloading of vehicles. Movement of wastes to inspection bays, prior to Process Chemist assessment. This may include the weighing of incoming waste streams as part of waste processing.
  • Working alongside the process chemist to prepare waste batches, prior to treatment including the movement of containerised wastes from storage to batching areas.
  • Separation and segregation of inspected waste, ensuring that storage is undertaken in alignment with the Plant manager and Process Chemist direction and site permit.
  • Completion of batch sheets/lists to ensure traceability of all waste processed, with support from Process Chemist and Plant Manager.
  • Operation of the process line, following training which includes the shredding of waste materials, prior to mixing with appropriate reagents (determined by the Process Chemist) within the dedicated, bespoke in-vessel mixing plant and associated receiving tank. This will include the use of FLT’s and dedicated process plant excavator (training to be provided as needed).
  • Complete all pre-use plant, equipment and FLT inspections, reporting any faults to Management including those as directed by the plant preventative maintenance schedule.
  • Complete PUWER safety checks on any equipment or tools used, recording on the appropriate form where one exists.
  • Safely operate a counterbalance FLT in line with the company’s P.A.S.S policy.
  • Preparation of outgoing loads (picking pallets from storage), working alongside chemist team.
  • Housekeeping activities including sweeping and litter picking
  • Any other duties that would be deemed acceptable, and in line with the role as determined by the Site Management team.
