SUMMARY

The Production Planner is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and optimizing production activities to maintain efficient and consistent work flow. This role ensures that work orders are scheduled and issued based on sales order demands and established stocking levels. The planner will work interdepartmentally to ensure production schedules align with material availability, capacity, and company goals.
A successful Production Planner must be highly organized, analytical, and proactive, capable of making well-informed scheduling decisions, anticipating bottlenecks, and communicating effectively across departments. Critical thinking is key in this role.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–3 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role preferred.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adjust plans quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset—ability to think ahead and identify solutions before issues arise.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Acumatica preferred, but not required).
  • Basic to intermediate Excel skills.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures, including maintaining an acceptable attendance record.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where adjustments to schedules and priorities are frequent.

    Pay: $65,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year

Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain master production schedules to meet 5x10 lead times.
  • Develop and maintain work order schedules that align with sales order needs and stocking level requirements.
  • Own MRP functions in our ERP system, ensuring accurate quarterly min/max updates for finished goods and tracking adjustments.
  • Audit and update internal reports to maintain accurate tracking of open work orders.
  • Utilize materials availability tools within the ERP system to confirm inventory levels before scheduling production and proactively communicate shortages to leadership and purchasing.
  • Monitor finished goods and/or module shortages, adjusting production schedules as necessary.
  • Review custom build orders against available stock and issue work orders as needed.
  • Ensure work orders are completed accurately, reviewing and correcting discrepancies in scanned and hard copies.
  • Maintain and assign lot numbers to work orders.
  • Track and report material delays and their impact on production schedules in collaboration with the purchasing team, leadership and customer service.
  • Monitor piece part shortages, communicate with the supply chain, and adjust production schedules accordingly.
  • Conduct finished goods audits during morning routines—verify accuracy in the system and collaborate with inventory teams for corrections.
  • Work with line managers to collect and maintain labor time tracking data for planning accuracy.
  • Participate in weekly production meetings, providing updates on scheduling, material availability, and potential disruptions.
  • Communicate production plans and schedules to leadership and the purchasing department.
  • Track and analyze scheduling accuracy, production lead times, and areas for improvement to refine planning strategies.
  • Document and report production issues that affect scheduling efficiency, working closely with leadership to develop solutions.
  • Reporting: send daily reports on material delays, work order statuses, track production performance against planned schedules and identify areas for improvement.
