Production Planner/Scheduler Position Summary:
(Compensation for this position will be commensurate with one’s level of expertise and professional tenure)
The Production Planner/Scheduler plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors the flow of products through the complete production cycle. Provides timely planning and scheduling of manufacturing work orders to the manufacturing floor in order to achieve both internal sales goals and contract customer delivery dates. Develop weekly production schedules to ensure that production deadlines are met. Determine material, equipment, and labor requirements, prepare status and performance reports, and resolve production issues.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business management, or related field is preferred with 5 years proven production planning experience

(other combinations of education, training and experience will be accepted as well)

  • Certified Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) accreditation or other relevant certification is advantageous
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Computer literacy in a Windows-based environment, especially Excel and Word
  • Willing and able to immediately adapt to changes in policies and procedures
  • Proactive approach to problem resolution and problem solving ability
  • Able to interact with all levels of employees and customers in a professional manner
  • Able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines

VALUED BUT NOT REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics GP ERP software

Responsibilities

PRIMARY POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review Sales forecast to determine manufacturing requirements
  • Receive and acknowledge contract manufacturing orders. Provide ship date based on current production lead times and policies
  • Coordinate flow of material to meet production schedule
  • Support purchasing:
  • Expedite suppliers purchase orders if required
  • Communicate material and component needs with vendor lead times factored in
  • Utilize ERP system to generate material orders to the warehouse
  • Create Master production Records (MPRs) and lot issuance for all manufacturing runs
  • Inventory Control - Entry of inventory into electronic systems and adjustments of inventory as needed
  • Release manufacturing orders to QC/warehouse for release and picking
  • Coordinate between warehouse and purchasing on material needs/shortages
  • Notify Sales and contract customers of any schedule impacts
  • Coordinate/expedite manufacturing builds to ensure schedules are achieved
  • Completes status reports, such as production progress, customer information and materials inventory
  • Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
  • Perform other duties as required

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Production and Processing – Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Ability to interact well with internal and external customers
  • Ability to read write and communicate effectively in English
  • Proficient use of computer systems and software applications
  • In‐depth knowledge of ERP or MRP software preferred
