Description General Purpose of the Position: The Production Planner / Scheduler is responsible for coordinating, scheduling, and monitoring the flow of materials and production activities. This position will develop and maintain the production schedule to ensure production processes run smoothly, resources are used efficiently, while meeting customer demands, quality standards, and delivery timelines. Position reports to the Operations Manager. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules to meet customer orders and internal targets. Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate delays, material shortages, or equipment failures. Collaborate with procurement, inventory, warehouse, and manufacturing teams to ensure availability of raw materials and components. Coordinate daily with customer service and manufacturing team to ensure shipments are being met and customer confirmations are accurate and in line with production. Manage cylinders as they relate to production jobs to ensure timely delivery to avoid downtime. Manage and develop product weight files. Develop and manage company equipment capacity charts. Analyze capacity and resource requirements and identify potential bottlenecks. Monitor inventory levels and ensure materials are available just in time to avoid downtime or excess stock. Track and report on key production planning metrics such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, and backlogs. Develop and Manage Customer spread sheets and effectively communicate to internal and external stake holders. Coordinate with quality control to ensure production meets quality standards and timelines. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance planning efficiency and production performance. Maintain accurate planning records and documentation in ERP or MRP systems. Effectively collaborate with other functions to achieve business goals. Maintains distribution schedule for the facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays. Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff. Follow and maintain proper training instructions pertaining to all OSHA standards; regulatory/company health and safety rules; lock out/tag out; confined spaces, hazard communications, hazardous waste, GMP housekeeping standards, and any other required training procedures. Perform other duties as directed. Requirements Experience and Skill Requirements: Experience of 2-5 years in a manufacturing environment. Experience of 2-5 years in production planning and scheduling of orders. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong leadership skills. Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. Ability to manage tasks and adhere to schedules. Ability to effectively communicate to management, customers, vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Must be flexible in adapting to changing needs of the business. Must be people oriented and logical in balancing daily operations to support the production operation. After hour work could potentially be necessary to complete job requirements. Physical Requirements: Apply 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 5 lbs. of force frequently. Move and lift objects up to 10 lbs. vertically and/or horizontally. Ability to stand with often movement to reach, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, and twist. Mandatory use of PPE when entering the production area. Prolonged periods of sitting. Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations management, or another related field is preferred. Knowledge of ISO and BRC procedures preferred. Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies preferred. Additional Information: Work is performed primarily in manufacturing, warehouse, labs, or rotogravure press production areas including permanent enclosures. In accordance with our safety program, all employees receive information training on required PPE equipment, chemicals, and equipment used within the press enclosures and the plant. Manufacturing atmosphere may contain fumes, odors, dust, etc. Noise levels fluctuate according to proximity of operating equipment. This position may have limited domestic and / or international travel.
