Description The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring a steady flow of all materials needed to keep the manufacturing team operating. This is generally a balancing act; the production planner must ensure adequate supplies without overbuying or wasting resources. Your Impact We are looking for a self-motivating, detail oriented individual to be a key contributor to the Procurement team as well as a dedicated service provider to the Manufacturing department. The ideal candidate is a dynamic and observant individual with a strong background in Materials resource planning, has excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player. Key Responsibilities · Performs the Make, Buy and / or Bill of Material (BOM) planning activities associated with Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) transactions. · Maintains production systems integrity to drive inventory optimization to minimize cost. · Expedites and optimizes material flow through the supply chain to meet customer requirements. · Coordinates with manufacturing and operations management to provide shop floor control on make parts, executes the plan, provides timely status, and either expedites or creates a work around plan to preserve schedule. · Coordinates with supply chain stakeholders including Procurement and Operations management to determine appropriate time phased plan for procured parts and executes processes to ensure deliverables meet production schedule requirements. · Coordinates with Engineering and Change Control Board to make the associated changes to the BOM · Manages inventory levels, schedules, and availability of selected item, either manufactured or purchased, to meet production schedules. · Interfaces with manufacturing personnel, the purchasing department and supervisors on material status and production planning issues · Performs cost analysis to support customer quote requests · Monitor MRP forecasts, inventory, customer demand, production requirements, inventory transactions and reject material. · Set up, maintain and adjust Kanban program according to MRP reports, ensuring appropriate inventory management practices and cost-effective operations. · Create and maintain MRP classification codes in addition to reviewing BOM accuracy to ensure correct component identification, ordering and release. · Generate the initial demand for purchasing of parts and raw material while providing WIP work orders directly to the production floor. · Coordinate all WIP inventory efforts and reconcile post-inventory. · Maintain ERP system parameters including material master data and performance criteria. · Create and maintain logistics support programs and identify and resolve problems in customer return system prior to implementation. · Analyze and escalate the requirements of the BOM, including preliminary specifications/documentation and required date · Evaluates, approves and executes ad hoc material transaction requests. Requirements · Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience · Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook a must · Oracle NetSuite experience required · Excellent communication skills – written and verbal · Ability to prioritize projects and strong problem-solving skills · Works well under pressure
