Responsibilities
  • The Production Planner plans, schedules, coordinates, and monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program units to meet requirements.
  • The planner also advises operations and program management on the status of work in progress and risks to meeting the internal master schedule.
  • Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers, and quality are critical to the role.
  • Coordinates with Manufacturing Engineering and Material Management to develop an internal master schedule for assigned programs.
  • Releases work orders to the production floor based on the internal master schedule, part availability, and current capacity.
  • Monitors manufacturing conformance to the master schedule using ERP systems and reports.
  • Expedited items are needed to make items based on the master schedule.
  • Directly oversees operational measures, including but not limited to efficiency, floor inventory accuracy, release on time, and on-time delivery.
  • Reports variances and action plans to address.
  • Manages and controls manufacturing floor stock for assigned programs.
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed.
  • Coordinates the scheduling of shared equipment and personnel with respective process owners.
  • Works under general supervision.
  • Responsible for entire projects or processes within the job area.
  • Responsible for providing guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area.
  • Manage projects at this level, with responsibility for delegating work and reviewing others’ work.
  • Reports variances and action plans to address.
