Bennett Opie Ltd is a family run food manufacturing business, operating 140+ years.
We are currently recruiting for a Production Scheduler to join our passionate and dedicated team, working closely with our Planning, Procurement and Production Teams.

Due to the nature of the role, we are looking for someone to work Monday to Thursday, 7am to 6pm with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break to provide the support for our Production Team.
This will require 2 days to be based at our Chalkwell Road site in Sittingbourne and 2 days from our Wentworth Court site. On the days based from Wentworth Court, you will be required to attend our Chalkwell Road site from 7am to 9am to ensure the smooth running of our Production Department prior to heading over to Wentworth Court.
This means a 3 day weekend!!!
The salary banding (£30K to £35K per annum) is depending on experience.

Responsibilities

Including but not limited to;

  • Determine production requirements based on plant capacity, labour capacity and product specifications.
  • Convert the production forecast into a fully resourced manufacturing schedule.
  • Responsible for providing a 4 week rolling plan to convert to scheduling of works orders.
  • Providing clear and concise updates to any amendments to the schedule, by distributing the revised version to the relevant departments as promptly as possible.
  • Liaising with the Finance Department, especially the Commercial Accountant and also Production colleagues namely; the Operations and Engineering Manager and the Coordinators to determine the most financially commercial way in which scheduling is compiled.
  • Raise all work orders in accordance to their specifics namely; cases and batches, update and maintain the ERP system.
  • Responsible for removing the plans once this has been confirmed to avoid duplication of raw material requirements for the Procurement Team.
  • Working closely with the Procurement Department to establish lead times for materials and / or to identify any potential concerns with any delays of material dispatch.
  • Conduct regular meetings to keep track of production schedules in co-ordination with the Manufacturing Planning Manager and operations team to ensure customer service and product availability are maintained.
  • Co-ordinate with the Finance Department to ensure that variances to plan are captured with reasons and feedback to the Manufacturing Planning Manager on opportunities for efficiency benefits.
  • Maintaining good levels of working relationships across multiple departments, providing information and responses to queries quickly and accurately.
  • Responsible for highlighting any potential concerns or delays which may impact the manufacturing of products, other departments and the customers.
  • Chairing and / or attending any meetings related to the scheduling and planning aspects of the organisation.
