Caterpillar is seeking a Production Scheduler in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will develop and manage an innovative production scheduling process that maximizes efficiency and optimizes resources and assets internally while retaining enough flexibility to ensure that all customer needs are met in a timely and cost-conscious manner. You will own key supply chain performance indicators across velocity and order-to-delivery.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO IN THIS ROLE:

  • Develops production plans to accommodate customer demand within practical production capabilities, balancing often conflicting objectives of employment stability, efficient manufacturing and appropriate inventory levels to achieve optimum costs.
  • Develop schedules and forecasts for prime product machines, attachments and related products.
  • Monitor external issues such as strikes at key suppliers or key market economic conditions that may impact on scheduling concerns.
  • Develop availability and inventory strategies that satisfy product needs of the Annual Business Plan (ABP) shipment forecast.
  • Assist facility supply chain leaders in developing inventory strategies to reconcile fluctuating demand and the need for factory stability while minimizing inventory investment.
  • Monitor and modify, as needed, the production plan to maintain acceptable product availability and inventory levels.
  • Collect, monitor and analyze actual results against business variables of the ABP forecasts such as sales to users, orders, shipments and factory and dealer inventory.
  • Develop a recommendation for critical review by Product Managers, Materials, Factory Managers and marketing subsidiaries, explaining why this plan provides the best solutions given conflicting objectives. Adjust ABP forecast for supply constraints such as machinery, equipment, manpower, etc.
  • Guide and provide support for a project team working with Supply Chain Performance and Planning groups at facilities and the Global Supplier Constraint Management Team to ensure robust capacity and constraint management is used in the development of master production plans.

A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE IN THIS ROLE WILL SHOWCASE THEIR SKILLS IN:

  • Data Gathering & Analysis : Knowledge of data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes; ability to collect and synthesize data from a variety of stakeholders and sources in an objective manner to reach a conclusion, goal, or judgment.
  • Cross-Team Integration: Understanding of the importance of inter-team collaboration in breaking down silos and achieving business results; ability to lead employees from various functions to communicate, coordinate work across divisions, and collaborate in solving problems as one team.
  • Forecasting: Knowledge of forecasting tools, approaches and practices; ability to determine product demand and estimate production requirements and loads.
  • Production Scheduling and Control: Knowledge of procedures and tools for scheduling and controlling production runs; ability to utilize knowledge of daily manufacturing processes to assure quality deliverables.
