Job Description Reports To: Production Manager Job Summary: The Assistant Production Manager oversees the electronics manufacturing process, ensuring efficient production of high-quality electronic components and devices. This role involves managing assembly lines, optimizing processes for precision and reliability, and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as IPC and ISO. Key Responsibilities: Production Planning & Control Develop and manage production schedules for PCB assembly, SMT lines, and final product assembly. Coordinate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure material availability. Team Management Supervise technicians, line operators, and assembly staff. Provide training on electronics assembly standards and ESD safety practices. Quality Assurance Ensure compliance with IPC-A-610 standards and ISO 9001 requirements. Work closely with QA teams to address defects, implement corrective actions, and maintain traceability. Resource Management Optimize utilization of SMT machines, wave soldering equipment, and testing stations. Schedule preventive maintenance to minimize downtime. Continuous Improvement Implement Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to reduce waste and improve yield. Drive automation initiatives for PCB assembly and testing processes. Health & Safety Compliance Enforce ESD control measures and workplace safety standards. Conduct regular audits and safety training for electronics handling. Reporting & Analysis Prepare production reports including yield rates, defect analysis, and throughput metrics. Use data analytics to identify bottlenecks and improve cycle times. Qualifications & Skills: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electronics, or related field. 5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing or PCB assembly management. Strong knowledge of SMT, through-hole assembly, and testing processes. Excellent leadership and problem-solving skills. Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and automation technologies. Key Competencies: Technical Expertise in Electronics Manufacturing Leadership & Team Development Quality & Compliance Focus Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement Strong Analytical and Decision-Making Skills Qualifications Experience leading assembly operations in a manufacturing environment. Degree in Business Management preferred Proven on the ground experience utilizing structured problem solving, LEAN, and 6S to transformoperations. Ability to manage conflict and difficult performance issues. Strong knowledge and skill with computer, MRP, ERP, and Microsoft Office software required. Intermediate skill with Excel is essential. Knowledge of manufacturing controls required – Capacity planning, inventory control, Bills of Materials, Engineering drawings and Change Orders, Document Control, and Work Instructions. Able to coach and lead employees. Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and tenacious follow through. Is comfortable with reaching beyond role scope to drive improvement and growth Proven ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment with changing workloads and deadlines. Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Ability to lift to 50lbs.
