SUMMARY

Reporting to the Operations Leader and Site Leader, as the Shift Leader you will provide hands-on leadership on a production shift within the plant to ensure that production schedules are met safely and on time, while continually reducing costs and increasing overall efficiencies; all within a fast paced (Just in Time) food manufacturing environment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 3-4 years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment Must be a demonstrated leader who interacts with others and is adept at leading/motivating a team to meet schedule demands
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication skills, along with simple mathematical abilities
  • Ability to manage difficult people
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexible to work days, afternoons, nights & weekends if needed
  • Working knowledge of GMP’s, HACCP & O.H.S.A required
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Post-secondary education an asset

Responsibilities:

  • Leads by example & fosters an environment of mutual respect & team work among Team Members
  • Responsible for leading all production Line Leaders, Team Leaders & all crews on a shift
  • Leads, coaches, mentors and trains Line Leaders and Team Leaders
  • Ensures production schedules are met
  • Follow-ups and deals with any problems that may occur
  • Co-ordinates the various department schedules, products & manpower to ensure that the production runs smoothly
  • Checks to ensure that proper methods & procedures are being used and that quality, safety, environment standards are met
  • Provides assistance in scheduling, resolving production and manpower problems
  • Provides orientation and training as required to ensure an effective and efficient work force
  • Ensures a safe working environment is maintained at all times by enforcing Company Standards and regular inspections
  • Assists in all testing of new equipment, methods and or products, as well as trouble shoots processes and equipment
  • Utilizes OMS system & SCADA System (when available) to meet production targets & follow Quality Control procedures Completes daily reports on KPI’s
  • Acts as a backup to Operations Leader when necessary
  • Additional responsibilities may be added to better satisfy the needs of the business
