Production Supervisor
Arbec Forest Products Inc. - Miramichi Division manufactures oriented strand board (OSB) for clients located throughout North America. Arbec Forest Products Inc. is looking for a Production Supervisor at its Miramichi plant. Reporting to the Production Superintendent, the incumbent will primarily be responsible to oversee all activities including health & safety, environment, quality and production while maintaining good relations. This position will ensure that all employees comply with company policies, procedures, ethical standards and applicable regulations and legislation.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Ensure that safe work practices are being followed
- Oversee employee compliance with company policies and standards for safety, environment, quality, ethics, cost control, housekeeping, waste reduction and on-time delivery
- Plan the team’s workload and flow
- Effectively convey company messages to the Team
- Manage workforce as per the Collective Agreement including Time Sheets, vacation, floaters, overtime, attendance, etc.
- Ensure employees have clear goals and are aware of expectations
- Coordinate activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities, and delegating work accordingly
- Evaluate employee performance and provide feedback and coaching on an ongoing basis
- Participate in site and workplace inspections
- Conduct thorough incident investigations
- Administer disciplinary action in accordance with established procedures and maintain proper documentation
- Provide leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, and development
- Oversee departmental outputs, ensuring they meet safety, environment, production schedules and quality standards, as well as customer needs
- Address and follow-up on employee issues in a timely manner and in compliance with collective agreement
- Act as Incident Commander in emergency situations
- Undertake any other tasks as assigned by the Superintendent

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing field related to the industry
  • Five years of experience in a management role within a manufacturing setting
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret goals, objectives, collective agreements and policies
  • Ability to delegate, set expectations, and monitor progress of all direct reports
  • Ability to supervise and motivate a team to achieve and exceed their goals
  • Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
  • Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
