Seeking an experienced process driven individual who has worked in a multi facet food production environment. CLS Catering Services (part of LSG Sky Chef & Cathay Pacific) offers you the opportunity to be part of the inner workings of an exciting industry in a diverse and dynamic environment.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Executive Chef, this position while focuses on continuous improvement also manages, leads and coaches the food production team to ensure that food preparation, plating and assembly processes are completed per specifications in an efficient and timely manner while at the same time utilizing “Lean and Best Manufacturing Practices” to achieve operational excellence. Meets and exceeds company standards including specification compliance, productivity, run rates, labour and food costs, HACCP, first pass yield and portion controls.

Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Culinary or a Business Diploma desirable.
  • Minimum 5 – 10 years’ proven supervisory experience in a high volume food production assembly facility in a union environment.
  • HACCP and Food Safe Certificate required.
  • Proven experience with process standards, scheduling and databases required.
  • Able to lead, supervise and train employees, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
  • Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Previous Quality Assurance experience a great asset.
  • Ability to make independent decisions with defined guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must be available to work all shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Possess a basic understanding of production machinery an asset

Experience:

  • Food industry: 1 year (preferred)
  • Supervisory: 2 years (preferred
Responsibilities
  • Supervises team members on shift, which includes scheduling, work allocation, training and problem solving in a unionized environment.
  • Maintains & provides reporting from various systems such as SAPMM, CBase, E-Z Labour, scheduling programs and spreadsheets.
  • Reviews current methods and tools in place to help develop new processes and performs process time standards, maintains applications to assist in hours control documentation.
  • Updates and maintain the program database.
  • Modifies daily work assignments in accordance with airline schedules.
  • Trains team members in the safe, efficient operation of equipment.
  • Ensures all SOP’s & meal specifications are followed in a timely manner.
  • Oversees all facets of the daily operation of food plating and assembly ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Participates in promotion and progressive discipline process of team members.
  • Assists with the implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the department.
  • Evaluates performance and makes recommendations as required.
  • Ensures quantities, specifications, service delivery and quality match and meet production logistics.
  • Sets targets, measures and records productivity ensuring team members are held accountable.
  • Must be able to multi task in a high volume environment while still meeting deadlines.
  • Performs root cause analysis and responds to customer inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the safety of team members in accordance with established company and WorkSafe standards.
  • Ensures team members are in compliance with company quality control and hygiene procedures.
  • Trains and develops team members in operational matters.
  • Manages team members in accordance with company policies, collective agreement and provincial labour legislation.
  • Participates in meetings with managers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
