General Purpose: Responsible for ensuring that daily production occurs in an efficient and effective manner. Essential Functions: Production Management OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY · Maintain continuous production of high quality products to meet customer requirements as scheduled by DM. Coordination/Communication · Coordinate with DM, DQ, DHR, Payroll, Receptionist, other PS and Mgt. to ensure free flow of information concerning production, people, problems, solutions found/recommended to ensure consistency throughout the company. · Conduct pre-production meetings prior to each shift to ensure production EE’s are also fully informed to ensure consistency throughout the company. · Continuously monitor production during the shift to identify & analyze problems and then communicate with production EE’s to implement immediate solutions followed by coordination with DM, DQ & Mgt. to develop permanent solutions or new continuous process improvement projects. PRODUCTION PROCESSES · Fully understands the process & material flows for the production of quality materials. · Continuously monitors production throughout the shifts. · Maintains compliance with the quality manual, work instructions and quality plan to produce quality product, making line adjustments as required for compliance. · Runs the line as efficiently and effectively as possible for the production being done to minimize cost while maximizing production MATERIALS MANAGEMENT · Ensures availability of raw materials, packaging, consumables & PPE to support current & subsequent shifts. · Monitors material staging & material flows for efficiency & safety. SAFETY · Ensures compliance with all OSHA/ EPA regulations and company policies to ensure safety of the EE’s, machinery and company property. · First responder for accidents--have to make the call whether a hospital visit is necessary or if a PS visit suffices. DATA COLLECTION & MANAGEMENT · Reviews data from previous production to obtain production parameters for upcoming production · Issues production blueprints & quality plans to the shift for production as required. · Monitor production through continuous collection of data in accordance with the quality plan. · Utilizes data to determine efficiency of production at any given time and makes line/ production/ people changes as required to improve efficiency. · Records data in compliance with company requirements. People Management Overall Responsibility · Supervises all personnel involved with production on their shift Employee Relations · Executes the Collective Bargaining Agreement · Issues daily work assignments and ensures proper rotation of personnel · Enforces shop rules · Schedules OT · Documents EE attendance, training, discipline, performance & incidents/ accidents· Monitors EE conflicts & attempts to resolve, involves DHR & other management when required. General Administration Overall Responsibility · Documents all production personnel & safety information Database Management · Results · Millennium · Accident log · Payroll · Training · Quality Training · Conduct training each year in December · Workmanship standards · Hanging glass properly · General safety · General administrative issues--insurance, health & safety · Responsible for numerous parameters related to the actual production of customer orders · Supervises all plant personnel to ensure that Procedures and Work Instructions are followed for each step in the process without exception unless properly authorized · Provides input in Corrective Action Requests made by customers and process improvement strategies · Supervises the Production process; makes necessary changes and adjustments during the production in order to make it as effective as possible. · Coordinates necessary actions in order to resolve the problem if one occurs · Has authority to move workers from one position to another in case the production requires so · Organizes off-line glass-cutting, samples production, special orders, etc. · Keeps management informed about production and any problems that occur · Collects, on a regular basis, all data required by MGP Quality System · Supervises the production process continuously · Directs all activities at the Shipping/Receiving dock in accordance with customer requirements · Stops production in case products do not meet customer quality requirements. · Communicates to employees any initiatives for Quality System changes · Ensures that the quality issues are implemented, all the time without exceptions · Cooperates closely with the Plant Manager, the Quality Assurance Manager and the Quality Assurance Technician during production · Tracks closely the storage and usage of all “In-Process” material – raw and finished · Has the authority to accept or reject suggestions given by the Quality Assurance Technician in case of a problem · Ensures that all of the customer’s quality requirements are met throughout the production process · Must be knowledgeable of all MGP Quality Standards · Takes an active role during employee training sessions · Collects and enters the final production results into appropriate computer files · Has the authority to override decisions and/or suggestions relating to product quality provided by the Quality Assurance Technician (if this happens, the Production Supervisor takes full responsibility for quality related activities) · Ensures that fire extinguishers are full at the beginning of the shift: calls supplier with the number of empty extinguishers (if any) by end of shift. · Has authority to initiate and provide suggestions for disciplinary actions to Plant Manager and Director of Human Resources · Is qualified to judge the effectiveness of training after six months of service WindowPack (applicable only to Exchange Building) · Manages tracking system for frames, using a form filled out by the laborers, indicating what part they are running, the amount in the box and the lot # on our shipping label · Supplies laborers with enough box labels, identifying the product being assembled, each day and ensures that the assembled product is being labeled properly · Makes sure that the laborers have the necessary supplies · Collects all relevant paperwork for the WindowPack area, compiles it in a red folder and submits it to the Director of Material at the end of each day · Stops assembly in case products do not meet customer quality requirements. · Ensures that all of the customer’s quality requirements are met throughout the assembly process Facility Maintenance (non-technical) · Ensures that the facility is maintained through supervision of janitor(s) with a focus on the: · orderly arrangement of supplies on floor · stocking of necessary paper products in the restrooms · clean-up and removal of all garbage and trash · snow removal · Makes sure that MGP employees comply with respect to parking restrictions (as they affect MGP’s neighbors’ ability to conduct their business efficiently) · Does all other duties as assigned Qualifications/Basic Job Requirements: · Must be very familiar with the production process · Have good communication skills in order to establish an effective rapport with employees · Must have a High School Diploma with two years of experience, preferably in various positions in the company and/or High School Diploma with three years experience in glass industry; two-year Associates degree highly desirable · Fluent in English, capable of writing, speaking and presenting information to diverse audiences; bilingual skills in either Spanish, Chinese, or Polish preferred · Able to perform all basic mathematical operations · Capable of reading and understanding blueprints · Must be able to understand various documents and instructions supplied either in written or oral form, as well as to apply common sense when needed · For a list of mandatory training for this position, please see the Training Plan QS PR 6.2.2.2 Physical Requirements: These are physical and mental requirements of the position as it is typically performed.
