Job Title: Production Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY

ML Meat Supplies is seeking a dedicated and experienced Production Line Supervisor to lead the production line in our sausage manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in food production, specifically within the sausage or meat processing industry, along with strong skills in machinery operation and team leadership. This hands-on role involves overseeing factory floor operations, managing and supporting production staff, maintaining product quality standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will receive training across all factory operations, with the long-term goal of taking responsibility for staff training and development.
Salary: £32,000 – £38,000 per annum, depending on experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in food or meat manufacturing (preferably sausages).
  • Background in operating or setting up machinery.
  • Ability to supervise and lead a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

KEY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

To manage a designated production area efficiently and effectively-maximising the use of people, materials, and machinery to meet production targets, quality standards, and food and safety regulations in accordance with company procedures and site policies.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the production line to meet agreed standards of quality, output, cost, and timing.
  • Supervise, support, and motivate factory floor staff to ensure productivity and morale.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant company policies and food safety procedures.
  • Coordinate effective shift handovers and maintain accurate production records.
  • Ensure the optimal use of resources: staff, equipment, and raw materials.
  • Actively contribute to cost-saving initiatives and process improvements.
  • Promote and maintain a team-oriented work environment.
  • Address and resolve day-to-day operational and staffing issues.
  • Identify and escalate employee relations matters as appropriate.
  • Oversee training of staff, with a view to taking on training responsibilities long term.
  • Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time.
  • Communicate effectively across all departments and levels of staff.

COMPLIANCE AND SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure adherence to all Food Safety, Quality Policies, BRCGS.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
