Apogee Architectural Metals Position Summary The Production Supervisor I is responsible for leading and developing a team of production employees to meet safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role ensures adherence to operational standards, promotes continuous improvement initiatives, and fosters a culture of accountability and teamwork. #LI-AD1 Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development: Supervise, coach, and develop production team members to achieve performance expectations. Foster an inclusive and engaged workplace culture that aligns with company values. Conduct regular team meetings to communicate production goals, safety updates, and process improvements. Partner with HR on employee relations, training, performance management, and career development initiatives. Safety & Compliance: Ensure a safe work environment by enforcing company policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations. Conduct regular safety talks, audits, and incident investigations as needed. Promote a proactive approach to workplace safety, including hazard identification and risk mitigation. Production & Quality: Oversee daily production operations to ensure output meets quality, delivery, and efficiency targets. Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production rates, scrap, and downtime. Partner with Quality and Engineering teams to resolve production issues and drive continuous improvement. Ensure compliance with work instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and regulatory requirements. Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving: Utilize Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to drive process efficiencies and waste reduction. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and quality. Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to troubleshoot equipment issues and minimize downtime. Workforce Planning & Resource Management: Manage daily workforce scheduling to ensure appropriate staffing levels and cross-training. Support hiring and onboarding of new production employees. Monitor and approve timekeeping records and attendance in alignment with company policies. Experience & Skills Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: 2+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing or production environment. Required Skills: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to drive process improvements. Knowledge of safety protocols, quality standards, and manufacturing best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and manufacturing software/systems. Preferred Experience and Skills: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered in lieu of a degree, particularly with demonstrated success in manufacturing leadership roles. Prior experience serving as a Lead, mentor, or in a team leadership capacity is strongly valued and will be taken into account as part of the overall qualifications for the role. Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies. Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and data-driven decision-making. Department Specific Knowledge and Experience: Knowledge of architectural finishing or the painting process (bath chemistry, electrochemical processes, wastewater processes). Experience with aluminum welding, blueprint reading and material handling. Familiarity of extruded aluminum alloys. Work Environment/Travel Requirements Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures. Flexibility to work various shifts and overtime based on production demands. Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods.
