The Role:
The Production Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day crew results including safety, productivity, quality, etc. Accountable for long-term development of team and team members to build depth of capability for improved results. The person will have to learn the process to be able to supervise the production shift crews.
This position is located in Portage la Prairie, MB

What You’ll Do:

  • Safety Leadership:Accountable for the safety of their team by identifying and addressing unsafe conditions, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and conducting timely investigations to mitigate risks.
  • Cross-Training & Backup:Cross-train on all departments and provide backup for area and shift supervisors during absences.
  • Operational Performance:Maximize Operations results, including throughput, uptime, efficiency, and usage, while addressing potential equipment failures and coordinating with Maintenance and Engineering teams.
  • Quality Accountability:Take action to meet defined quality standards, adjust variables to maintain productivity, and resolve quality issues in collaboration with QC staff and the Head of Quality.
  • Team Development:Develop SOPs, training content, and Learning Paths for the operations team while ensuring proper staffing and cross-training to maximize team effectiveness.
  • Performance Management:Lead and manage the team by conducting performance reviews, addressing concerns, resolving disputes, and fostering development to build bench strength for future needs.
  • Continuous Improvement:Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and operational efficiency across the plant.

What You’ll Need:

Education:

  • Chemical Engineering Diploma or Degree

    Experience: 3-5 years’ experience supervising hourly production team members in an industrial manufacturing environment.

  • Must be available to work 12 hour shifts.

  • Person must be available to do extended hours (evenings and weekends) based on production needs. Must be willing to be ‘on call’.
  • This role spends approximately 50% of the time in an office environment and 50% of the time in the plant environment.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to speak or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk, climb stairs, use hands and fingers to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms; work in hot, cold and loud environments. Employee must be able to wear a respirator. (manufacturing only)

  • This is a full-time position. 12 hour shifts.
