Description

Established manufacturer of premium wood products, with a medium size plant near the city of Maple Ridge, is looking for a Production Supervisor with wood product manufacturing experience.
This position is responsible for the operation, performance, quality control, cost management and safety of the production team on the shop floor, providing leadership, training, and support.

_ Your day to day responsibilities will include: _

  • Plan, schedule, organize and direct day-to-day production operations in coordination with production and maintenance staff
  • Monitor product standards and deploy quality control program elements as required
  • Analyze the efficiency of production machinery and allocation of production staff with the aim of cost control, product quality control, and raw material utilization
  • Monitor production methods for continuous improvement and opportunities to reduce waste
  • Provide direction, guidance and support to production team; engage staff to achieve targets, meet expectations, and address deficiencies in a productive and professional manner
  • Ensure the highest safety standards by leading by example and ensuring that the team follows all company procedures and provincial regulations.
  • Provide detailed and accurate reporting information for both safety, production, and performance related matters

To qualify for this position you must have:

  • Knowledge and experience within wood component manufacturing operations including manufacturing production methods, production machinery, tools and materials
  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience supervising production in a manufacturing operation
  • High school graduation. Post-secondary training in Supervisory/Leadership preferred
  • Basic knowledge of lumber grading and familiarity with local wood species characteristics
  • A strong combination of technical knowledge, communication skills and leadership
  • Basic office computer skills using MS Office/Outlook
