JOB OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a motivated and dependable Production Team Floater to join our poultry hatchery team. This role involves supporting various production areas within the hatchery and on farm deliveries to ensure smooth and efficient operations. The floater must be adaptable, comfortable working with live poultry, and capable of maintaining biosecurity and quality standards across departments.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· High school diploma or equivalent preferred
· Previous experience in poultry or agricultural operations is an asset
· Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (standing for long periods, lifting up to 25-50 lbs)
· Comfortable working with live animals
· Flexible and willing to move between different tasks and workstations as needed
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and animal welfare
· Good communication and teamwork skills
· Ability to follow directions and work independently when required

· Availability to work weekends, holidays, or overtime as needed

  • Knowledge of hatchery equipment and bio-security protocols.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and under pressure.
Responsibilities

· Clean and sanitize baskets upon return from the farm
· Load eggs from trays onto setter carts for incubation
· Perform end-of-day cleaning and sanitation of production rooms
· Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
· Perform repetitive tasks with attention to detail
· Assist with egg pickups and chick deliveries
· Support various hatchery operations, including:
· Egg receiving and handling
· Incubation and hatcher room activities
· Chick processing and sexing lines
· Chick vaccination, counting, and packaging
· Monitor and handle eggs and chicks carefully to reduce stress and damage
· Follow strict biosecurity and contamination prevention protocols
· Operate hatchery equipment such as chick counters, conveyors, washers, and vacuums
· Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all workstations and equipment
· Conduct basic quality control checks as needed
· Report any irregularities or equipment issues to supervisors promptly
· Provide support to other team members during peak periods
· Adhere to all health and safety regulations in a fast-paced work environment
· Monitor chick health in transit through CO2, humidity, and temperature.
· Maintain accurate records of deliveries, chick counts, temperatures, and placements.
· Provide hands-on support during loading/unloading.
Load and unload chicks safely and in accordance with animal welfare guidelines.
Plan and adjust delivery routes based on traffic, weather, and client needs
