We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Lead Hand to join our clients leading FMCG manufacturing business in Nelson. As a Lead Hand, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations within Production / Blending, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and safely while maintaining high standards of quality.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of automated Filling & Packaging equipment within a relevant FMCG environment.
  • Minimum 2 years Leadership & People Management experience. Demonstrate the ability to develop and motivate direct reports ensuring maximum performance through use of all available resources
  • Practical working knowledge of LEAN principles – Standard Work (SOPs), Visual Mgmt., 5s etc.
  • Working knowledge of Quality, Safety & Environmental best practice
  • Basic problem solving skills, 5 Whys, Fishbone, PDCA etc.
  • SAP Trained
Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the blending manager, taking complete responsibility & ownership for delivering daily and weekly performance targets.
  • Continuously work to improve the performance of people and plant to deliver site efficiency and performance standards.
  • Provide ‘hands-on’ leadership to direct reports ensuring the process runs efficiently, providing support and encouragement in team problem solving at the earliest opportunity.
  • Develop the understanding, urgency and motivation of your team members to maximise their own skills to become proactive and focussed on delivering expected individual and team performance results.
  • Implementing Hygiene and Housekeeping standards/rules to ensure we are ‘Audit Ready’ at all times, ensuring all paperwork, quality and cleaning records are 100% accurate.
  • Promote and support the company quality & safety standards, focusing on continuous improvement whilst contributing to the companies 4C’s strategy, and demonstrating the company values and behaviours.
