Responsibilities

Our production department, is looking to fill a team leader vacancy. This role is based in Balliol Business Park (NE12 8EW), working 38 hours per week alternating 6am-2pm Mon-Thu, 6am-12pm Fri and 2pm-10pm Mon-Thu, 12pm-6pm Fri. The purpose of this role is to oversee the performance of designated production areas and shifts, to ensure the production plan is met, with the highest possible efficiency and quality standards.

The key duties and responsibilities of this role are to:

  • Optimise materials and staffing levels to ensure maximum efficiency to achieve the production plan
  • Ensure correct set up of production lines in terms of people, materials and specification
  • Minimise downtime or any detrimental impact on performance, as well as identifying areas of improvement
  • Analyse data to make informed decisions in relation to the smooth running of the production areas
  • Promote a culture of food safety and H&S, ensuring appropriate standards are adhered to at all times
  • Record HSE incidents, conduct investigations, carry out risk assessments and take corrective action
  • Responsible for ensuring brand integrity and product quality, to ensure specifications are met and non-conforming products are prevented
  • Ensure adherence to company policies and practices, taking corrective action as required
  • Chair formal meetings with employees and conduct relevant investigations
  • Review, write and update production procedures, documentation and training material
  • Effectively implement changes in processes and procedures, promoting a culture of continuous improvement
  • Communicate with employees clearly and regularly, through team briefings and 121’s
  • Conduct interviews and ensure a smooth onboarding process for all new starters and agency workers
  • Assist the management team with delivery of projects and initiatives
  • Ensure all staff are fully trained to fulfil their roles and carry out training needs analysis. Ensure training is scheduled and carried out accordingly, in line with the production plan
  • Support Production Operatives and Line Leads to improve their performance, through coaching and performance management
  • Deputise for Assistant Production Managers and fulfil other ad hoc duties

The key skills for this role are:

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Good understanding of food safety, quality and H&S
  • Good level of people management and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient IT, written and numerical skills
  • Excellent communicator (both verbal & written)
  • Ability prioritise tasks and project manage
  • Ability to analyse data and accuracy and a strong attention to detail
