It’s an exciting time for SEA as we expand our Canadian operations and team. We are currently looking for outstanding people to form the core of our growing team in Ottawa.
As one of our Production Technologists you will execute SEA Canada’s production activities and support the design, development, maintenance and testing of products, components and tooling. You will be a key member of the SEA Canada team, working closely with our delivery and functional support teams to build, test and support highly engineered naval systems.

What you’ll be doing

  • Conduct assembly and testing to meet production goals and ensure product quality
  • Interpret and provide feedback on conventional and computer-assisted design engineering designs, drawings and specifications
  • Create and maintain assembly and test instructions based on engineering drawings, models and physical parts
  • Conduct tests and analyses on machines, components, and materials to assess performance, strength, stress response and other key characteristics
  • Calibrate tooling to ensure accuracy, functionality, and optimal performance in production processes
  • Populate and maintain the Materials Resource Planning database
  • Identify process improvements to reduce production costs and enhance operational efficiency
  • Act as the first point of triage for quality issues encountered in manufacturing
  • Participate in the installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventive maintenance of manufacturing tools and equipment
  • Perform incoming inspections on vendor supplied product for quality and conformity with specification
  • Perform in process inspection of parts and assemblies to ensure conformity to specification

THE EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS YOU NEED

  • Experience in mechanical and electrical assembly, equipment setup and testing in a manufacturing environment
  • The ability to analyze, optimize and enhance manufacturing workflows to drive improvements in operational efficiency, safety compliance and cost reduction
  • The ability to read and interpret designs and technical drawings, test plans and specifications
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both mechanical and electrical systems, with the ability to diagnose, analyze and resolve issues promptly and effectively
  • Experience working with CAD software, MS Office products and ERP/MRP software for material planning, inventory control and production scheduling.
  • Experience with New Product Introduction processes and workflows, and technical writing of assembly and test instructions would be strong assets
  • Experience with high pressure air systems, including setup, operation, testing and safety of equipment would be an asset
  • The ideal candidate will have completed a two or three-year college program in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology with a focus on manufacturing processes, engineering design and system integration
  • A high level of accuracy and exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, stakeholders, and external vendors
  • The ability to achieve a Canadian security clearance
