Description

Overall Job Purpose
To lead our electronics test and repair team. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic products, ensuring high-quality standards and operational efficiency. You will serve as a technical expert while providing leadership, training, and support to a team of engineers and technicians.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership & Supervision

  • Lead and manage a team of test and repair engineers/technicians.
  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate workloads to meet production and repair schedules.
  • Provide mentoring, training, and technical guidance to team members.
  • Conduct performance reviews and support professional development.

Technical Oversight

  • Oversee the testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic products to board or component level.
  • Ensure consistent application of diagnostic procedures and quality standards.
  • Review and improve test procedures, fault-diagnosis strategies, and repair methodologies.
  • Support root cause analysis of failures and work closely with design and quality teams on corrective actions.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve test/repair turnaround times.
  • Maintain and improve test documentation, SOPs, and repair logs.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using lean or Six Sigma principles where applicable.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with ESD, IPC standards, and internal quality systems.
  • Maintain calibration and functionality of test equipment.
  • Support internal audits and contribute to quality and regulatory documentation.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with engineering, production, and customer support to resolve product issues.
  • Provide technical feedback to design teams to improve product reliability and serviceability.

QualificationsEducation

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Advanced technical training or certifications (IPC, Six Sigma, etc.) are a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in electronics testing and repair, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Strong experience with board-level diagnostics and repair of complex electronic systems.
  • Familiarity with both analog and digital circuit troubleshooting.

Skills

  • Proven leadership and team management skills.
  • Expertise in using test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Strong understanding of ESD practices, IPC standards, and quality systems (e.g., ISO 9001).

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in a high-mix, low-volume or high-reliability electronics environment (e.g., medical, aerospace, defense).
  • Exposure to automated test systems or scripting (e.g., LabVIEW, Python) is an asset.
  • Comfortable working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.

Pay: £38,000.00-£45,000.00 per year
